[Suggestions] Imperial Fortress/Walls

Hello!

I'm planning on scratch-building some Imperial "curtain walls" for use as scenery/fortifications for using in scenarios protecting Imperial cities or making an Imperial fortress.  Probably want to cast them up, so these would be masters.

Where I need help is figuring out how big to make the individual pieces!

I was thinking 5cm wide and tall, and 10 or 15cm long sections.  Anyone have any advice or suggestions on size?

You could always just borrow the look of the 40k fortress walls Chroma:

If you used foamcore it would be fairly easy to cut to shape and scribe "stonework" in... not to mention ending up being durable enough to actually handle.

Rhino and IG SHT for scale in these photos as well.

Hi. I've been thinkering wth similar ideas. What I was going to use was 5 cm high and up to 30 cm long floam blocks cut at a slightly sloped angle. For gates I was thinking of tusing the FW 40k scale entrances to underground bunkers.

Nice idea!

Given that most bases in epic (depending on what you use) are 20mm or 40mm width, I would make your walls in multiples of these (maybe slightly more) so you can occupy them comfortably.

hi, iv started buliding a similar project useing parts of the cites of death terrain sets, nnamely the little top half sections you get in the sets...

I've got a basilica I won at a tournament, that I'd like to use  for epic if I can.

Yeah, I've been thinking of doing something like this mixing Sanctus Imperialis/Basilica Parts, the Necromunda plastic Bulkheads, and the Epic Ruins;
it'll be like a Imperial Governors palace, more of a centre piece for Epic city-scapes.

I'm also planning on making a Titan factory using the Cod Manufactorum set... :blues: :;): :D

the idea behind my walls is simple really, sadly i have no camera so i cant post pic's. :( .

so ill explain as best i can, i have simply used the wall sections on this sprue. three of the wall and spike sections gives me a 150mm wall section. addding a 20mm deep foam back alows me to place about 6 bases of infantry per wall. i have the parts at the moment for three walls and a ruined section. i just have to build them...

strangely thats what iv got planned tor sunday afternoon. :confuse:

just a thought for you... especially if you use this in games...

The length of the sections are long enough to place 2 stands behind them. Not sure of the stand sizes... but on the table top, its nice to be able to place your troops neatly side by side behind the walls.

I did this several years back but I didn't get very far. But its nice to put a line of Space marines on the wall top neatly.

I've been looking at my basilica and thinking about how to cut it up for epic. Nothing concrete yet, but a few vague ideas.
