I got some very cool styrofoam packing "caps" that I'd like to use to make EPIC fortress blocks, but I'm stymied on how to stick things to it! It's the white "beaded" styrofoam and I want to affix pasticard sheets to it so I can do various detail bits. Superglue is right out as it *devours* the styro and I'm afraid white/wood glue will be too thick and not allow the plasticard to lay flush with the flat surfaces. Anyone have any suggestions? |

I know that the last time I was in a craft store they had styrofoam glue. However, I have no idea how strong it is, how much it costs, or if it will stick to your plasticard. ![]() Past that, it sounds perfect for you! |

Construction adhesive should work. You might try looking through the Black Gobbo archives on GW's site. They regularly do terrain stuff and I recall several times where they've used foam insulation for structure, covered with plasticard for detailing. |

WOW! Thanks Neal! The Black Gobbo archive is great! I had no idea that was there. |

I'd recommend covering the entire foam ting in a thin layer of PVa glue and leave it to dry. That should seal it and make sure it doesn't melt when exposed to Superglue. It is also a good way to make greenstuff stick to foam: The surface of the PVA bonds way better with the GreenStuff rather than just pure foam. |

There isn't a risk of "peeling" doing something like that? |

That would of couse depend a bit on the kind of PVA glue, type of foam, and how big things you intend to stick on there. Generally speaking I use PVA glue for gluing foam piees together and I have yet to have such things come apart without ripping the foam to bits. The PVA need to be thuroughly dry of course but once there it won't come off that easily. Also the size of the bonding surface plays a large part: An aerial stuck on something with less than a square millimeter of bonding surface is naturally more likely to come off or cause the glue to "peel" that a large piece that distributes the impact over a large surface. |

PVA is a really strong glue when it dries. I use it for most of my board construction at work. |

Thanks for the tips everyone! Not sure I'm going to get the "fortress blocks" done for tomorrow's "Red Queen Rising" game, but I'll give it a try! |

As Neal pointed out, construction adhesive, aka Liquid Nails works great. ? The small projects & repairs adhesive is perfect for terrain use and comes in a squeeze tube rather than a calking tube. ?Much easier to seal, keep, reuse. ?And it's reasonably priced as well. |
