Long time lurker here. After many years of building armies (but not really painting them often), I feel the pull of terrain making. There are a healthy number of Epic players in my general area and that community has motivated me to dive head first into it. I have several themed boards planned after this project which include a mining planet, an Imperial shrine/cardinal world, a Feral Ork world (based on my favorite army), a Daemon world and lastly a classic bombed out Imperial capital city kinda-sorta based on Berlin in 1945. That build should result in two boards worth of terrain and the one that I am currently working on will result in three boards worth. It's been a lot of fun - here are some of the things that I've built and primed so far.

These are superb, particularly the final shot. More please ! For 6mm size figures, the quality of the terrain is so important (and, I'm sure, is more likely to pull in a casual viewer). Also, nice to see some themed pieces. Great stuff. Phil

Thank you for the feedback Phil! I like to have a theme or story behind each terrain project. The industrial world that this terrain represents, takes in industrial and battlefield scrap. It is then turned into various weaponry for guard armies fighting in several sectors of Imperial space. The facilities also refurbish various rare war engines, as melting them down would be impractical. The photos below show highly sought after Baneblade war engines being refurbished in several open air shops. For some reason, the photos posted in reverse order - oops.

As a fellow player that barely paints miniatures and makes terrain pieces instead i can say that it looks very good so far, but i would be careful with industrial terrain like the chemical plant and the energy plant's tower on your first post, as they end up being all impassable terrain because no units can be put physically on top and being not so good gameplay wise. I have seen that happening before.

Thanks captPiett!!

Thank you Abetillo and I get where you are coming from. There will be only a couple of spots on the board where units will not be able to be placed, I figure that it's bound to happen with some building designs. Luckily those spots don't take up a lot of space, so I don't see it impacting game play much. That being said, I will keep your advice in mind Abetillo, thanks again for the feedback!

I've tried to strike a balance between design and playability, also detail and durability with my builds. I think half of the weight in these builds is plastic glue and super glue ;D

Seriously? What the hell was that? We'll be voting to revoke your AI membership card tonight.

Great stuff, Chris. You should make sure you get the trained chimp an extra banana this week.

That's looking pretty cool. Great use of those old field projectors from Macragge!

Thanks very much guys!

Oh, and the trained chimp is thrilled that you mentioned him Dave.

More photos will be on the way - as I've said, this project should be able to fill three gaming tables when I'm finished.

I recognize my shortcomings and will strive to correct them...

Actually Chris, shouldn't there be several piles of skulls sprinkled around those structures? I'm not sure power stations, workshops, or railroads work without skulls.

Yup, everything is powered by burning the skulls of faithful Imperial servants.

On my planet anyway...

Where'd the cooling tower come from?

(and I'm going to be honest, I'm straight stealing this idea)

Thanks for the kind words Jimmy and Malika2! Steal away Jimmy, I've saved tons of pics/ideas from other people on this site over the years.

The cooling tower is 3d printed and I got it off of eBay. I cut off the zig-zag maintanence walkway up to the top, because it didn't look right. I'm pretty happy with it.

Here's the link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Railroad-40K-D ... %3A2334524

He has two sizes, I bought the smaller one.

Here's a sneak-peek of my Forge complex. It is made up of six structural components, four of which are magnetized to the main building. It takes up a good chunk of table space ;D Needless to say, I have a fair amount of painting ahead of me.

File comment: The Tech Priest statue on the cog plinth is from Hitech and the Servitor styled gargoyle is from a great Russian company on eBay. The main building has six of these on it's walls (3 different styles of tech priests)
