A little something I'm cooking up while I'm stuck inside on a snowy day. The building is color-laser printed on 110lb cardstock, scaled down about 75% from the full-size buildings available in PDF from Hawk Wargames' Dropzone Commander line. As you can see, very effective, and plenty sturdy, and I'd put them at slightly lower time-to-build than what I'd spend painting resin or metal buildings. Which are almost totally impossible to buy for 3mm scale anyway. ![]() Overall, I think the effect is pretty striking. And by downscaling only half as much, you also can get them for 6mm scale pretty cleanly as well: ![]() It's not what you'd get from a really well-made cast terrain city, but you can't top it for cost, speed, and ease of construction, and the visual effect in mass I expect to be pretty good. |

Half an afternoon's work has provided a nice start for the burgeoning metropolis of Pico City. The city I'm aiming for is a dense urban area on a 2'x2' board, but this is a fine start. As you can see, they mass very nicely and give a fine cityscape. ![]() |

Nice. Do you seal them with anything? Or use a pen on the exposed center of the cardstock? What's the red VTOL? |

I don't bother sealing them or blacking out the edges, but those are both possible. The dark edge/light edge thing doesn't really bother me that much. As for the VTOL, it's a "Crow" dropship from Oddzial Osmy, via Picoarmor. It's in the process of painting for a group of Polish mercenaries I'm working on called the Krakow Winged Hussars. |

What quality of card stock did you use for these? I have often thought about printing these off but I'm too lazy to do the R&D required to find the most appropriate card. Lol. Also, by reducing 75% I assume you mean printing it off at 1/4 of original scale rather than 3/4? |

The stock is 110lb smooth laser printer card, plain white. The scaling is 33% of the original size. I basically put the PDF into "Preview" on my Mac, and set it to print nine pages per sheet. I've also made up a base board to use. The seam in the pieces seems way more noticeable in the photo than it is in real life, for some reason. The minis are 3mm scale Ultramarines. ![]() |

Thanks! The high-rises, by the way (to answer a question nobody asked) are my own kitbashes. Just trying out some interesting shapes. All the buildings from the Dropzone Commander range are modular so you can do some interesting things with them. Full-on downtown city combat is kind of the 3mm scale Holy Grail - since nobody really makes urban terrain at that size, it can be a real pain to represent. I think this is really the best I've ever managed and once I get a full urban area ready, my first plan is a game of Samurai Robots Battle Royale. But the possibilities are wide open - up to and including Dropzone Commander itself, at 3mm scale. It could be done - some of those little mechs GZG makes are crying out to be used as PHR troops! Battletech also comes to mind - the Battleforce scale mechs are just about perfect. |

Very nice. I made a couple for 6mm before but I stupidly let them get squished in the move, but easy to replace I guess. Are the boards downsized as well, or are they just the dropzone ones, with more buildings on? They look fantastic. |
