Hi guys, I am in the market or a new gaming mat I want to fit to a 6X4 foot gaming table I am going to be building. I just want a simple field green mat. Any ideas where to look? I am not interested in the photo quality kind that might have images of stones, trees, roads, etc. Just a simple medium green mat.

I did go to a fabric store, but nothing was available in the size that I wanted. :/

The best ones I ever came across were The Terrain Guy. He stopped producing them to open a LGS though.

Got one of these. They have them on eBay and they accept offers. I really like it. Ok it's just printed Lino but it's sturdy, easy clean and looks the part. Mine is a tundra/mid grass type look

Thanks guys. Rolling the dice on the Monday Knight mat. The shipping for the UK ones was crazy, although one of them looked really nice. I did find a good pick of the Monday Knight mat on another site so it looks like it will be nice.

BTW, do you guys secure your mats to a board? I am thinking of making a sturdy 6X4 piece of plywood, with a frame underneath, and wasn't sure if I should try to tack it on the plywood, or glue it. I guess it depends on the fabric. I am not sure which option to use as I dont want glue running thru the mat.

I am not sure how well double-sided sticky tape will work either.

Ah sorry! I just assumed you were in the UK, ha ha. I play in gaming clubs so never secure the mats, terrain pins them down on the big MDF boards we have at the cricket club.

Monday Knight's mats are decent enough, essentially flocked felt (unless you got the unflocked ones). I have a few 3x3 unflocked with hexes.

I don't tape them down, it defeats the purpose of a transportable mat. If you're going to do that you might as well flock the plywood.

I've gotten some from these guys and they are nice. They might have something close to what you're looking for.

I'll also add that the old GW Battle Mat, while hard the find and now very expensive, is still one of the best I've seen. I wish I could find who made it for them, and see about commissioning more with a Kickstarter.

I recently found a TMP post where the guy hit one with a spray bottle of bleach, it created a great effect. He even masked off roads and fields and got some pretty stark contrast.

I just tried it on one of my 2x2s tonight. I went a little heavy so there's a bit more yellow everywhere now.

I wonder if this would work on the Mat O' War

Probably, they're straight colored fabric. Less is definitely more. I went heavy on the first and light on my second mat. I like the second more.
