Please bear in mind that I generally follow Stalin's axiom on scenery "Quantity has a Quality all of it's own" I'd rather have lots of ok pieces than a few brilliant ones and too be honest I'd rather have enough fairly rubbish pieces than not enough. These all come in at pennies each as well.
First of all we have these silos based upon a plastic shot glass (20 or so for a quid maybe more I forget) a cable tie ladder and a few pieces of sprue to make a maintenance/control room at the top. 4 pieces in about fifteen minutes.
Image
I've also done these based upon the Dawn of War uplink beacons.
Image
They consist of a sequin and a bead (I gave the ladies at the haberdashery counter a bit of a giggle buying them) and a cable tie end. I've done thirty of them and that means I can have neutral beacons (those with the antennae down) red team and blue team beacons for the opposing factions which can be changed mud game for a bit of fun.

Cardstock is your friend all of these are based upon brought kits however there are plenty of free ones floating about the internet.

These are just random toy parts painted and weathered. Strange tanky thing and a power plant I feel.

Been playing about with 6mm fantasy and I've done some theme terrain for my Undead. These Long Barrows and the Central Mound are based upon a combination of West Kennet/Silbury Hill and the tomb at Vergina. They took roughly a day to make and paint (doing lots of other things as well). The bulk is Insulation foam with cocktail stick entrances. The central mound's altar is based on a Warhammer Undead shield and a piece of sprue.

These fields are simply cheap door mats cut up and spray painted.

These are the cardstock bits and bobs as well as the floor mat fields in action.

We play in the Student Union so it helps if the terrain is light and durable cardstock is excellent.

These walls are the rim of a butter lid given some internal structure and ladders they'll make nice simple defensive walls.

The Defense line came up well the blobs of grey in front are papier mache craters which didn't photograph well. It's a nice cheap modular set.

This is me going slightly crazy.

This is part of an Industrial complex with Smelter, Train Fuelling Point, Train Shed and Train. The smelter is a Rawl plug bodge while the shed and fueller are based upon Azazel's excellent bottle cap technique. The engine is ork battlewagon parts and a bolt pistol back as cab with a main body based on sprue I beam. The wagons designed to go down the mines are based on more battle wagon wheels. There all based on a monowheel design as monowheels are just naturally futuristic. Cable ties are used to make the wheels. I've also been bodgin together canals, trench lines, sludge pits and mines.

Got some simpler pieces painted up.
Image
Bits of cable clip, cable tie, rawl plugs and bottle cap made these simple buildings.
Image
These mines use a standard hill technique. Foamboard and Insulation core with cable clip entrance and cable tie rail. This was all tied in with papier mache and based.

I've been looking for a cheap way to make 6mm woods for a while. I saw this tutorial for 2mm woods http://www.terragenesis.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8655 and thought it looked easy and cheap. It is and was. Lots of woods for a £1 pack of pipe cleaners.

There probably a bit coarse for 6mm but meh.

Basic works based around a bottle top and wiring blocks
Image
Here it is under heavy bombardment
Image
This might be based upon the two buildings both containing most of a clan Matts Quake Cannoning Titan blasted apart in our last game.........
It's simply black paint dyed cotton wool glued to transparent packaging plastic. The dyeing means the colour isn't the same making it great for a smoke effect.

Quick sump based on a lid and cable clip. The gooey yuck is PVA mixed with cheap red and yellow acrylic paint.
Image
PVA is the cheap gits water effect and really effective if your patient.

These Container Yards are based upon these templates http://www.papershipwright.co.uk/category/free-downloads/
Image
These templates are great as they provide lots of templates on a sheet and are well recommended. Size is a bit iffy but they look fine if rather big.
