Looking for suggestions/ideas/examples/tutorials on making or buying suitable minefields for my imperial fists, ideally in 2.5cm x 5cm sections

can anyone help?

Do you have a copy of the Battles Book from the earlier editions of epic (compilation of battle reports from WD).

It has a template of minefields and razorwire for photocopying I believe, I'll have a look for my copy and bring it at the next Thursday night game.

Should be pretty easy to make
-take a base (plasticard would work, cut to shape/dimensions)
-use some textured paint on it (e.g. Vallejo Sandy Paste/Pumice)
-use the toilet paper + water + elmers school glue/wood glue to make a few craters
-take some old junky plastic APCs from 2nd edition and appropriately explodify them.
-slap some washes and pigment powders and bob's your uncle.

Multiple craters (with the occasional corpse, skeleton or wrecked vehicle) and warning signs (design some or find existing designs and print them really small) are the main things to have.

Possibly a wire fence or razorwire around the edge too.

I did my minefields and Concertina wire based on that WD/ Battle Book method ... was easy ... and fun ... don't think I took pics though ... :eh

That seems to be the best solution, IMO ...

How 'bout a single sign "Auchtung Minnen" or something like that. And then the minefield is considered to be in a circle around that point. Diameter of 2", 3" , ...

that's a good idea.... I'm in favour of pre-plotting them, battleships style so the opponent has to guess....

but alas that's a bit annoying so I need some kind of scenic solution, will check out AB's ones although I may go for a more 'WW1 no mans land' approach with lots of craters and knackered stuff...

I like the idea of having to guess.
You could always put a few down and have some as fakes?

Nothing like a minefield or ten to divert/channel the enemy infantry into your field of fire/killing zone/snipers LOS.

Rather than having to write down where they are, you could always just have several "areas" modelled on the board, and roll a dice when a unit moves into one to determine whether it's a real minefield. Just model them as signs with a few craters etc. So let's say you want 2 minefields. You place 4 minefield terrain pieces. The first time you reach one, it's 50/50 (4+) whether something goes BOOM. Then next time it's either 2/3 (3+) or 1/3 (5+) depending on how many are left to be found.

Thanks for mentioning about fakes AB, I keep meaning to reintroduce the mine barrages to Net Epic from 1st Edition AT/SM. I think Kyrt's idea is also nice.

Look forward to seeing what you have up your sleeve!

Real minefields are often fake, just signs and so on, enough to convince the infantry to go the other way.

The other way of course has very well hidden mines and or is something else very deadly.

Subterfuge rules the day.
