Hi!

I was just wondering if anyone has ever tried to replicate certain ruins/buildings from EA (those OOP expensive ones...) and sell them via Shapeways. Otherwise I might be doing it :)

Thinking about a system similar to the one used by Hawk Wargames for Dropzone Commander (buildings consist of modular wall segements).

cheers,

3d for buildings is a pain - large means expensive for the fine detail, and cheap means poor detail that I could scratch build even cheaper.

Plus I'd recommend NOT copying an existing model, that'd be illegal, and lots of people don't need more versions of the same piece. It's not like baroque sci-fi is a small design space :)

I've seen epic-scale terrain on shapeways. For the most part, I think it's more economical to build your own buildings from plasticard and then get your greeblies from shapeways or some other source.
