Can anybody point me in the right direction for tips on painting distressed buildings?

I've assembled a number of simple, block buildings and want to paint them so they look like they've endured years of neglect and battle damage.

Suggestions?

Believe it or not but look up weathering pigments on model train videos on YouTube. Right what you're looking for.

Yep, pigments. Though i just smash up chalk pastels rather than buying model making weathering pigments.

Also if you've got them around, those bare minerals makeup powders work great too. I know that sounds weird but if you really think about it, those are just very fine pigments in reality. They've got a shelf life, as all makeup evidently does, or so my wife keeps telling me :{[], so people are just tossing them out. Got a whole bag of them that way for free.
