So, apologies to fellow gaming geeks, but this isn't about Epic. This my friends, is about making a Go Diego Go/ Calico Critters Jungle Rescue Treehouse for both my daughters' birthdays this weekend! (you could also imagine it as a Catachan jungle warzone or something, scale from 6mm to small child) I wanted to put this up as I think it's pretty neat, I've spent a bucket load of time on it instead of painting and you never know, it might inspire some terrain makers ![]() Anyway, if anyone's still reading, here's the start: the base ![]() raw materials for the tree ![]() cutting the outline ![]() outline done ![]() slots cut and standing up ![]() the holes and starting the platforms ![]() another platform ![]() and from a different angle ![]() annoyingly I forgot the memory card in the camera, so the rest of the photos will have to wait until tomorrow. My wife Ingrid has done some hammocks and tents and tonight all I have left to do are some rope ladders. I hope the girls will be pleased! |

Pictures of power tools and saws in your basement are doing nothing for the AI's desire to head down and play some games Matt... Looks good so far. Are you going to Chaos it up with some spikes, skulls and graffiti proclaiming the Dark Gods of My Little Pony/Polly Pocket? |

that's actually my garage, all the S&M gear is in the basement ![]() I guess I could turn some of the rope ladders into gallows, but that would take some explaining "daddy, why is that man dangling by his neck?" so I'll probably skip it. Currently there's a pond with fish in it, 2 hammocks and a house with a removable roof. You do know that other, less dystopian fictional universes exist, right? |

I dno't know that I'd call Go Diego Go or Dora less dystopian than 40k. For God's sake where are the parents as their children go galavanting around in the jungle, playing with Jaguars as if they're pets, hang gliding, etc? I just don't understand. Yes, go off wiith your monkey friend guided only by a demonically possesed map and supplied by a back pack that eats everything. Nom nom nom. |

understanding childrens cartoons is the route to insanity. I used to think the Magic Roundabout (clearly made by/for weed smoking acid heads) made perfect sense when I was a kid, but it seems like gibberish now. If you think Go Diego Go is bad (and it is), try Huckletown or the Young Einsteins, those will truly drive you mad. |

I've not had the misfortune of seeing either of those. The current craze at my house revolves around a pair of mentally challanged brothers who are lead on convoluted wild goose chases by their sociopathic and probably genetically modified canine companion and her friends. |

so, a bit of a jump from one step to the other, now mostly assembled ![]() lots of different views ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() and after my wife (mostly) and I (a bit) have cutesied it up ![]() ![]() ![]() notice the fish (that wasn't me!) ![]() and the tents (ditto) ![]() and that's it! 6mths in the planning (it was supposed to be for Christmas, but I ran out of time) and 2wks of working on it every night. I'm pretty chuffed, hopefully the girls will be. I'll post up some pics of them when they get it, should give a good idea of scale ![]() |
