Hey all. Haven't posted here... ever, so figured I'd kick start this off with a painting log.

412th Armageddon / 60th Panzerkreig Brigade from Warseer : http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=210480

So to go with my growing armies, mainly the continued Panzerkreig painting, I wanted an urban setting. Something that not only worked as a gaming board, but as an eye candy piece for display in my home. I've been really looking into a modern urban war setting, and decided that Stalingrad was just too... overdone. I needed something else that could fit. Iraq was definately not the setting I was looking for, and came down to basically environments in east europe like the Bosnia, Georgia and Chechnya and eventually paying closer attention especially to the Battle(s) for Grozny. Ideally, it'd be a complex mix of streets, large roads, buildings, close quarters combat, sniper alleys, and a various mix of density from high density to low density. In the end... simply not possible to get it all on one board, so obviously I'd need 4 or 6. Modular boards would be nice, but this time around I'd like mine fairly static for further eye candy value, and so I decided with a semi-modular 6-board terrain project, and here's the first I've completed so far.

Please let me know what you think.

40x50cm for now. Hoping to get 6 of these in total, though I have maybe enough ruins for another 1-2 more boards depending on density. I know that I'll have at least one board full up on trenchworks that I can fit in. Something like a "last stand in front of a bastion" theme to it.

I just noticed this as I received my order, but since when did GW replace the rough sand/stone flock thing with smooth sand? I don't want smooth sand... I was hoping for that rougher version.
