Has anyone seen one of the foam table tops from War Zone Gaming http://www.war-zone.com/shop/tabletops.html They have many sizes, and is exactly what I had attempted to make, except theirs looks nicer and is probably much lighter than the wooden monstrosity I created.  Just want some feedback if anyone has one.  It seems like the way to go for us with limited space for everyday storage of gaming accesories, like big 6'x4' tables that shed static grass to the girlfriends annoyance. |

At nearly $100 USD for a 6'x4' I'd get a gaming mat before I'd get one of those. You could probably save $30-40. |

I spent well over 100 on the 3 4'X2' wooden boards, vinyl grass mat, glue, primer for wood, brushes, more glue since first time didn't set, backing material so as not to scratch "nice" surface of dining room table. And now if I buy this, I have wood to make a cool bike ramp. |

I'd buy one of the new GW gaming mats and then spend the remainder on some of their hills. That would be a better investment of your cash. |

Well I took one for the team and one is on the way, I'll let you know what I think, but it sounds like what I've wanted. It's light weight, so portable, collapsable so it won't intrude on my lack of closet space, and hopefully won't shed as much as the Woodland Scenics Vinyl mat on my heavy pine boards that I'm using now. I've spent enough on models and supplies, might as well spend some on the game table. |

My gaming buddy has ordered from this site for our Man o War games. Have yet to see the quality but since they are all handmade and tailored to your scale, if these prove good I will pick up a few for Epic scale. PS. Try and look past the horrible site, the pics are great. D. |

Not a bad idea, but I agree with Dave that gaming mats would be cheaper. FYI - JR Miniatures will be releasing some in the near future. Has any body bought any of their products? I might be interested in their hills. |

I really like the Terrain Mat site that Deamonkin posted. I saved it, the Red Desert, Volcanic and Desert accessories would make good Mars-type and/or Chaos planet terrain. Â And it is much better for storage and does not look like you'll get flock all over the place ! Â I've always wanted a Martian terrain set ! Â Damn you Deamonkin ... I hear my VISA calling ! I've got one of the terrainmat mats and I have to admit that I've only ever used it once in a game. (It's the backdrop for a couple of my pictures in my thread about my IG army. They look superb but I wouldn't recommend it for a couple of reasons: 1) It's not easy to store (It's a big unfoldable roll) 2) It sheds flock 3) If folded it seems to 'crack' revealing the mat underneath 4) It doesn't sit flat very well and any longer-term folds seem to stay as little ridges 5) It isn't as easy to use as a smooth table (i.e. you can't slide miniatures about (I play WH a bit) Having said all of that it does look very nice. Perhaps it'd be better glued to boards rather than rolled. I'll certainly use it for photographs/battle reports. They're also pretty cheap. All in all it's ok but not the 'miracle product' I was looking for. Maybe mine was a 'rogue' one. Or maybe I'm just fussy ![]() |

Well the table just arrived via Fed/Ex, but...I'm half the country away in Dallas. Full details on my impressions of the board on Saturday after I get back home and all the Politicians and Protestors have cleared out of my city. They made 50 arrests last night at one time. Those recreate '68 knobs were blocking streets and refused to move the protest off the streets to the park (less than 50')...sigh, I'm missing out on all this civil disobediance. |
