I'm trying to get back into modelling and Chaos is probably a good place to start again considering the new release of daemon models. So loads of imspiration. So hopefully I'm not setting off with a bad start by setting my goal too high. I've been toying with Khorne Chaos Altars as a display piece for my minatures, but need to maximise my space. So I'm wanting to build something multi-levelled which is the hard part. I'm thinking of a mountain of skull, so I can have various caverns and ledges to mount figures on, topping it will be a ring of skulls that forms a portal for the deamons to enter and spill out over the mountain. But a mountain of skulls would be hard (can't imagine myself sculpting all those skulls). So anyone got any thoughts or ideas I could possible use? |

Huuum. Maybe something more "natural": a lake of blood with a fall. You can do this with tainted pva glue for exemple. On top, a khornate temple with a few skull bitz. |

At this scale - I'd just get some sand, with various sized pebbles, and use it to flock out your hill. Paint it as you would bone - then, use a micro pen, and draw 3 dots, representing the eyes and nose of a skull onto the larger bits of sand. Should get the point across. |

I'd have a look at various classical fountain designs and try to incorporate some of those elements into the design. Try googleing designs from the period known as mannerism. lots of fascination with metamorphosis and the grotesque which could be interesting for a chaos altar. To quickly reproduce a number of skulls how about stamping them on? Make a greenstuff mould from some master model (selfsculpted or other) and then simply stamp the skulls into whatever putty you make the mountain from? |

thanks for the ideas, usefull to see the French decide to be different and make their own altar lol. I still in the middle of some ideas, but the primary goal is to make the altar multi-levelled so I can put stands on different levels. The shelf has some height, but limited area space. So after watching Kingdom of Heaven, I decided that my Khorne Altar would be a erm... mobile Seige Mountain or to that sort with big massive wheels pulled maybe by Engines of Khorne. Idea in mind, just need planning. I think its very erm... unusual, so not sure what the end result will be. |

i know its not right yet but think the blue blood red and some big brass horns on each corner and some small horns all over the place and some other chaos stuff all over the place it could be cool |
