Necron scenery, stage 1 of 100

Glacial update:

A few months after that last post, Doug managed to convert a few objects and we did a print on the ex-companies 3D printer. Summary: it sucked. The layering was unrecoverably bad. I tried filing/claying some of the pieces to get rid of the layering artifacts, but that wasn't efficient or pretty.

Last month I purchased MOI, which offers STL output and a fairly easy user interface. I also found an affordable print-house that does SLA (a higher resolution 3D print technology). The obelisks will be inserted into the print queue eventually, depending upon the reception of here on TacCom.

I would say that your necron terrain is good. :agree:
But what's the secret project?!

L-4 should be along presently to reveal it. He's my paint-and-photo man.

Another hint: Moscovian, the Necron guy, knows about it.

The summoning core. Note the pre-planned drill holes. They're 1 mm diameter. If people want to connect them using the green plastic rods, they can simply re-drill them to the wider 2.4mm diameter.

Each hash mark is a millimeter - the overall thingy will be 50mm tall, which was the approximate height in Dawn of War. Perhaps I should make a reduced scale one, as well?

Hm, I need to make drill holes in those pieces, too...

A question: when I make these things, should I include guide holes and pegs for the pieces that sit atop each other (as distinct from the floating-near-each-other examples, which certainly need holes for pinning)?

Pegs and holes are always good.  They can always be cut off and filled by those who don't want them.

This is the upcoming print job.

Please submit commentary and suggestions for improvement. If you have small models in .3dm format that you want to 'piggyback' onto the print job, contact me, and we'll see what we can work out.

A - A basic destroyer design I'm experimenting with for Starfire.
B - Higher-detail emitter tips for my Zombie Euro Robot Symbol. The few people who have expressed active interest (you know who you are) will eventually get free casts of these.
C - A low detail 'stand-in' for the Armageddon pattern Medusa enclosure.
D - Zombie Robot summoning core
D' - Reduced scale version of D
E - Zombie Robot control point
F - Zombie Robot obelisks
G - Gothic windows

Would it be possible to see closer images of each one?
