I think because the walls are so awesome, a flat roof would actually negatively impact the whole, sadly.

Ah i see what you you mean, It may be a case of having to do a gable roof then ;) I have had an idea about using the smaller sections on the roof so its two storey, Hopefully i can try some new options when my resin turns up, And if the spire sections cast ok it may have to turn into a massive building with four spires ;D fingers crossed it casts ok ::)

Oh if I just had some resin pieces of my own to trade with. Maybe I should go on and craft some like the ones Spectrar Ghost has done - that instant mold stuff doesn't look that complicated! Great stuff, Epic :D

The instant mould stuff is not complicated that why im using it ;D But it gives really good results, the resin is 1/1 so its easy to mix aswell, There are plenty of models out there to take sections from or as you have said design your own from plasticard and replicate that in resin. I was not 100% sure this was going to work but the even if it did not i was still going to end with the origanal model to paint, so i had nothing to loose.

Im going to remould the large panel again this time deeper so it will have all the window frame detail in there,

Hopefully the resin turns up soon ;D

Well my resin turned up at last at the same time so did some silicone liquid, I had an old box that had watercolour paints in it, I put a dab of superglue behind the wall sections and laid them in, Then poured the silicone in and hoped for the best,

The spire was filled on the inside as the decoration was perforated and went all the way through, i placed this in a glass and glue a bit of plastic to the top to keep it upright and in place then the glass with silicone, had to put a weight on top to stop it floating out the glass ;D

After a fairly long drying time i opened/ peeled back the silicone on the wall sections......it all went well and the as the stuff is self leveling its nice and flat on the bottom so all the resin would flow easily and not overflow at certain parts like the other blue putty moulds. So very happy with this as its the first time i have used the stuff and the detail in th emould looks very good.

Now the spire was not so good as i cut a slit down the side to remove it, but some silicone had got past and had made its way throught all the nooks and crannies and when it was pulled out it damaged the delicate plastic parts :( I was praying now that it would cast alright) But the mould itself was fine.

So with some new resin, white in colour this time it was pouring time, the end result im chuffed! the detail has really come through and the flash is a lot less than the blue putty moulds as its all even and harder to overfill, the spire came out with a few details missing but nothing that cant be lived with. The only drama is that i had to fit some plasti card at the back of the wall sections as they where not flat, on doing this i have made the bits thicker and they need to be cut and manipulated to go together, Using superglue it was bugger to glue as my fingers ended up getting stuck most of the time trying to hold the bits together :)

Anyway here are some pictures

Beautiful!

Passed this (former) church yesterday, and thought that it might give you some inspiration for the roof:

Hi Guys,

Finally managed to get round and put a roof put on the building, just two spires, and a gable roof, Not sure if the building looks a bit odd with a box shape and two spires, but hopefully with a coat of paint and the emblems painted and windows in, it should hopefully end up looking a bit more striking.

It looks cool, it doesn't look much like a church, and I think this was your purpose, right? :)

Looking pretty good :) Generally speaking, I think tthe spired tend to be on corners though, due to structural reasons (it's not like they grow out of the roof, they need to be touching ground.) Both spires in your building would have to punch right through the open space in the center, which would remove much of the interior space from use. What might be cool would be to take the molds you made for the spire, and recast another set of the tower sections. You could trim the triangular points off the top, just over the windows, and attach them under the rest of the spires you've already cast. That would give you plenty of height, and you could put one spire in each opposing corner, which would prevent you from having to make any adjustments to the wall sections themselves.

On the other hand, looks pretty good as it is. Just providing suggestions, although the current result is pretty awesome.

Cheers for the comments guys, Yes its not supposed to look like a church ;) The main project emphasis of this project was to enable me to make myself some sections with detail incorparated that would give me bits to build buildings mixed with plasti card.

This was just thrown together to see what things would look like ;D If i had taken longer i would of put four on the roof i.e one at each corner. In the Cityscape im planning on building i will need many different buildings to add some asthetic appeal, Also varying different sizes.

Future building design will be a city spire and this will be a spire tower about three times the height of the building in the above pictures, it will be thin though only slightly thicker at the base. Another building will be the main chapel which will be basicially the building in the previous posts but doulble the length but a spire in each corner, and out buildings attached to add size and charector.

Also need to source some 28mm minatures to use as statues for courtyards etc.....

Im also going to do a city wall, I will use our local werewolfs wall sections and will just glue some skulled wings to a wall every few sections and have a gatehouse made from two of the spire sections, will keep the updates coming, have painted the building base coat black for the time been and but will wait till i have made a few more so i can try and paint them all in a one shot to keep the colour similar on the buildings.

Hopefully soon I will have a few building designs to show you ;) regards epic

Hi Guys some photos attached of a new building design, its a fair old size and will be used as the convent bastion, Basically the first little building i did wing the angel pillars looked to box shape and to be honest standing against the new resin stuff looked a bit to plain and out of place, also the big ish building i made with the towers in the middle looked a bit to box like......... So as im not one to waste much i have made another section and glued all three together, I think it does not look to bad and at least i got to use my earlier stuff,
Still waiting to get some fortress grey then will give it a coat of paint, for the mean time i ran out of chaos black spray paint, so used halfords satin black, looks shiny in pics as it has just been painted, but just undder £6 for a 500ml can its pretty good stuff and covers better then GW and lasts longer, im now using there white primer on my minis! As i find the cost of the GW stuff disgusting >:(

Anyway here are some pics for you guys, suggestions inputs are welcome good or bad, And yes next building i will put the towers on the corners ;D

Mate,

This is an awesome project, what are you doing with the windows, will there be some very nice looking stained glass going in?

Cheers
Aaron

Cal, Purchased a sheet of stain glass windows that are used for N gauge train sets, They are pretty cool but some of the sizes are not brilliant, also the amount of buildings i will be knocking for the city scene the sheet will not last, Also the way they have been layed them on the clear plastic sheet does not give you enough room to cut an outer edge to lay them up on the inside of the windows properly.

My options are get them 1} photocopied onto clear plastic sheet again, but to be honest the designs are slighty to small,

2} photocopy the vollmer ones onto clear sheet, this is probably the thing im going to do.

3} Buy some clear coloured sheet from a diy store or model shop and use one of those cd marker pens and a ruler and just do the diamond shape lines on the sheet,

Regards epic
