I could be wrong, but I believe GW's primer is acrylic.

If it is ... then that would explain it ! ?I plan on, after washing my F/W Epic (carefully !), I'll brush on slightly thinned flat enamel, then brush on acrylics. Mostly I use Polly's S, because of their wide range of tactical colors. ?But I have some G/W ... ?I painted some F/W Epic buildings ... used flat enamel spray. ?Will take pics ... soon ! :D

I find that GW spray paint falls off FW models sooner or later.

OK, doing a little research I find that apparently the Citadel primers are also sold as car bodywork primers so I guess they should be ok.

I tried to undercoat a plastic Cadian model using just a simple pot of skull white the other day.  I'd forgotten just how futile an exercise that is!

Paint tends not to work too well as a primer. Hence, the reason we have primers.

That's good to know about GW's primer.

I've been using Polly's for years !  G/W does have some nice non-tactical colors though !   And I also spray the completed model with Testor's Clear Flat. After I paint over all decals/transfers with Polly's Clear Flat ...

That's unfortunately incorrect.

ForgeWorld themselves tell you on their own website not to use Citadel primers, and to go find some car bodywork primer...

Oh, then uh oh again!

I just found some thread on The Miniatures PAge that said the company that makes the citadel primers also sell it to a company that uses it as car primer.  Not a 100% reliable source, I'll  grant you  :p

Yeah, that thread is wrong, sorry.

From ForgeWorld's website:

http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/resinmodels3.htm

Check out the penultimate paragraph.

Basically, they're telling you to go find stronger primers that are used for metalwork, because GW ones (some miniature primers ho hum!) aren't formulated for adhering to resin.

You can sometimes get away with inferior primers or incomplete cleaning if you seal it well with several varnish layers, though I'd recomend you get it right at the priming stage. :)

But paint coming of also has to do if a model is touched much or not?

Anyway, I gave the models two layers of varnish. Ah well, it'll work, I promise.

Eh? My old 40K Kroot Atomic chicken from FW was undercoated with GW spray primer as far as I remember. No problems there.
