Building looks good, quite like the big STC carbon copy block with gothic embelishment vibe it's got going for it.

Little off topic but where's the little pointy hatted guy with the chainsword from?

The little pointy hatted guy is a cult leader from the GW chaos set, I purchased a few boxes a while ago to get the chaos termies from the set, ;)

Cheers for the comments guys, will try and work on the building a bit more....but for the moment i had this arrive......

Its a vollmer kit normally used for train set scenery, This one was already glued together by the previous owner so luckily it was pretty cheap, After seeing the pictures i wanted to get hold of one to try and cast some of the wall sections as they are pretty good,

So stripped it down ...bugger :( the glue was well bonded, but most came apart ok with the aid of a sharp craft knife, I will try and make a mould to cast the wall section and a few items such as doors, windows etc, Then i will put it back together and paint it!

My plan is that if i can get the walled section to cast up ok, i can then just build other buildings out of those sections and simply add roofs! Well thats the plan anyway, but my casting skills are not the best, hopefully though that because these are flat it will just be a simple press in open mould { like a greenstuff mould } I can handle these ok ;D

Well here are a few more pictures, will keep you posted on how it comes off...........................

That church is awesome - looks even better than the Kibri cathedral.

/me cries at the prices online - not found anything cheaper than £60 :-(

Yep they are not cheap as the kits themselves are really nice, But they drama is they are not only collected by model train people they are collected by people who build models aswell, the kit itself is designed to have a light put inside as the windows are simple quite outstanding when lit up from inside.

I payed £18 quid for a used model and i found that to to be more than enough, but i wanted it for some bits and found hopefully in the long run if i can get sections out of it, it will save me money rather than buying plasti card and drastically cut down build time, also should look 100% better and i will be able to customize the bits ;)

Well, as im eager to see how these bits come out, i set about casting some, If i was bright and didnt ever rush anything i would of build a mould box, but im not any of the two, So with some silicone rubber mould putty i made some simple moulds, But with the limited amount of putty i had they where not that deep.
Image
Have also tried a new resin, rather than the easy flow i used on my space chimps, Its seems very good i.e air bubble wise but stinks to high heaven and seems to take ages to dry. To be honest it just seems the same as the resin i use for fiberglassing Stuff!
Image
Also made some little moulds for the building emblems i.e the eagle, skull with wings so will not run out of these for a while!
the big section has turned out very well as have the other sections, But as the mould was shallow i lost some of the detail inside the windows so will just trim them out and have the arch windows open i.e with out the little bits inside. Will then just build, paint and put stainglass window sheets behind. Other than a few little niggles it has turned out alright and im fairly happy.
Image
May build a decent though and spent some time doing it so it turns out with the inner window detail and less large bits of flash!
Image
, Jesus the resin smells dire....its is car stuff im sure ;D

With this system the building size is unlimited, As rogal dawn once said " a palace, no not a palace, a fortess, a fortress "

Hi Guys,
One thing that attracted me to this models apart from the wall section was the spire, lets face it you could put four of these on a shoebox and it would look good ;D
Image
But i was concerned that it was to complex to get some moulds from, however today after closer inspection rather than been a solid piece of plastic that i thought it was, its in sections, With luck the previous owner had not overglued these sections and with a little force they it all parted without damage.
Image
So i will make some simple moulds for the eight tower sections as i have done with previously but this time will blank of the back of the windows with plasti card so it will just be an impression of the detail also making the thin sections stronger ;)

The only drama i see is the spire as its vented i.e ornate with masses of holes, What im planning is to fill the centre with plastercine and just mould round the outside cone shape, so hopefully catching the gothic detail, again hopefully a simple mould, but have a feeling the spires going to be a bit of a wing and a prayer job!

Will have to get some more supplies so may be a while before i get to trial this. ::)

Finally managed to get a few castings glued together on the wall sections, It was just a trial to see what they looked like, its just 3 large wall sections with some little sections i made glued together, where the little walls join i used the pillars i cast to cover up the joins ;) well most of them anyway as there are a few little gaps, even managed to cast the ornate bit that goes above the doors, its not brilliant but adds a lick of gothic feel.

Also glued some icons on the walls, no roof yet not sure what style to build.

The chaplins wondering where the roof and windows have gone ;D

The building was a bit rushed as i wanted to see what it all looked like, but think with a roof, and paintjob and some stainglass windows it should look fairly decent, If you notice there are two colour resins one clear and one an off yellow, im going to stick with the yellow stuff as its easy to mix, trim as it stays softer for longer, downside drying time, and i get some air bubbles in the icon moulds but the wall sections i dont get any :-\ bizarre!

Cheers for the guys, Im waiting for some more resin, then will cast up some more sections and hopefully get the spire cast,

Still not sure on the roof, as the walls look pretty good in detail im thinking i may be able to get away with flat roofs.. what do you guys think! I just want to get one painted ;D

i think on a single box shaped four wall basic structure you could do flat roofs, but maybe pitched ones on the example you have shown and other more non box shaped buildings.
