The side trenches are pointed in the wrong direction are they not?

PG, no mate, the aim of fields of fire is to concentrate your enemy within an engaegment area. Once they are in there the best way to deal death is with grazing enfilaide fire, so a U shape has a better effect. If you ever see deliberate defence, it is usually a box formation of companies with the killing ground central.

By grazing enfilaide fire I men grass level skimming accross the ground from the flank.

I am onto the double bunker today, I have been out bying materials and will hopefully have some pics later on tonight or tomorrow.

Cheers
Aaron

It fascinates me, CAL, that your explanation and mine to PG's query, would be essentially be the same !  With our countries being allies, much of our training and studies are the same. :D  And ANZAC fieldcraft has always been some of the best.

Fantastic work, guys. What's up with the piper? Is he there for scale reference?

Yeah, the piper is mine, and was just there for scale refererence.  He is a 28mm Highlander from the Colonial Range of www.castawayarts.com.au

Then again, in 6mm scale, what an awesome weapon a set of 28mm bagpipes would be???

That is great work guys, very impressive.

How did you do the texture on the clay CAL?

Dave, it is done with a small wire brush, one of those in the mini soldering/welding type kits.  Like a paintbrush, but with wires instead of hairs.

Your timing is impecable guys....just in time for my PDF army.  Some baracade systems would be cool too though :)

Cal, what are you doing for games now Geoff is up with the serious beer drinkers?

BTW, that Avatar is somewhat distracting, if not disturbing  :p

At the moment I am missing an Epic partner, but I am making up for it playing some Flames of War, seven Year War and this week maybe some AI. I myself am moving to Sydney in May and have made contact with a number of players. I only have the one army here with me, and that is the new Ulthwe Army.

Yeah, Glynns Avatar is kind of distracting.

I have made the double bunker, less the clay and detailing, I will be looking at maybe a command bunker with the trench line forward of the bunker. Watch this space for more on the subject.

No pics today, I dont have a camera, it is in Sydney already.

Somebody has big beefy man hands!

And thanks for the great step-by-step pictorial.

(Note to the curious: I have programmer's hands - long and ropy, like a strangler).

Ok so an update on proceedings so far. The single bunker is coming along nicely and should be cast tomorrow or Wednesday. Today we added detail in the form of sandbags, and some interior detail.
