So, I was picking up some superglue at the Dollar Store yesterday when I saw something that totally blew me away for a scenery project (BTW, dollar stores are an awesome place to find cool modelling bits!).

I took it home with me and started some work on it... but I'm just not sure what to do! ?I've never worked on a project this large before and I don't know what to do to texture/sculpt the larger areas of the object.  (It's a big plastic tent peg/anchor... I may get more and cut them up to make different sized spires.)

Here's a pic - WIP Tyranid Spire/Chimney

Really hoping to use this in one of the "Red Queen Rising" campaign endgames.

Thanks for any help/advice!

Maybe some cheap drywall spackle to coat it with? Then stamp the almost-hard spackle with some kind of sponge?

I think L-4 will give better advice.

Umm... why does it caues me think that Necrons could have built it (if it were black) ... :)

Tyranid spore chimney wouldn't be that straight.

Well, I want to texture and detail it... and the *other* ones I'll be doing will be leaning a bit... *laugh*

I think it will require some consideration.  With the organic nid look it could easily turn... phallic.

Yep... want to avoid that... no bulbous tip or anything... just tapered... yes, gently tapered like a fine woman's leg... sticking up in the air shooting out spores... er... ?:O
