I've been trying to compile a list of details for all the "special characters" that have been introduced in the past (Commissar Yarrick, Catachan Devils etc) and update them for use with the new EA rules.
I seem to recall a trio of Leman Russ tanks known as "Krueger's Heroes" who were veteran tankers and were available as a 3 tank Russ Formation for IG forces- but have been unable to loacte where they came from. I've searched my own archives and have had no joy.
Does anybody know where they are detailed? Thanks in advance

They are in an old issue of White Dwarf, in the waning days of SM2 IIRC (?). I have the card in my files. Let me see if I can find the issue number ?

Freaky, I just found that card yesterday & its here on my desk!
The only "fluffy" bit on the back reads: "The ferocity of Kreuger and his squadron is renowned throughout a large sector of the Imperium, and many would rather run than face the ful might of his three Leman Russ Battle Tanks"
However i dont know what the issue # was that they came from. They were in there with the Scythes of the Emperor card as I recall, with terminators and a thunderhawk, the catachan devils IG infantry company and posibly one other.
As for an era, for some reason I have a very vivid memory of the SotE card, and it was different because the silohuette was of the MkII thunderhawk, themidpoint between the flying brick and the current version. If you hapen to know the dates these were around I guess it narrows the search slightly - they weren't the primary model for long.

Yes, I too found the pages copied in my files. I'm guessing somewhere around issues 170-180 ? All the cards on the page that T/S mentioned are SM2 - Kreuger's Heros: BP=2, Morale=4, -1 to enemy morale within 15cm, to add to what T/S said.

Tas,
It was White Dwarf issue 198, the very last issue from Titan Legions (Epic-40k came out in issue 206). It's really hard to get ahold of this issue. Most 40k players actually tore out the cardboard cards and... THREW THEM AWAY! Aaaggghhhh!
The article was called:
"Honor and Glory - New units"
It featured:
- Scythes of the Emperor Terminator Detachment - Kreuger's Heroes Leman Russ Squadron - Blood Slaughterers Chaos Space Marines - Catachan Devils Imperial Guard Tactical Company
Issues 152 and 158 had Ghazkull, Yarrick, Njal, Ragnar, and Ulrik, who later reappeared in the compilation, Epic Battles.
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

Yep, UK WD 198 too, not the greatest Epic article, but interesting all the same... unfortunatly I have no cards as my second-hand copy seems to have had them torn out and chucked as Maksim mentioned.....
