Hya all!

Wel, I was reading some stuff on rational choice theory and as usual in thse cases I had a flash about 40k fluff ;)

The thing is that I thought about titan legions. I have no idea on how they are composed or how common they are, and if theyr STC designs are (relatively) widespread. The idea is that I would like to have a titan legion (only one, or maybe 2 small ones) in the Palman Empire but I have no idea if they are only priduced in a few forgeworlds and hence it would be counter-fluffy. I was thinking about a medium titan legion, more along the lines of warhound and reaver heavy than using the mega imperator style titans and the like. More along the lines of a "medium-light" titan legion, not a heavy one. That ould make the legions powerful, but not a definitive crusher there if facing imperial titans.

So, how common are they? Would a sector with say 2 very impotant forgeworld systems and other forgeworlds spread around be able to have a titan legion or 2? How many titans per legion? What types of titan legions are around (like if there are different types like heay and light titan legions...) Are they common enlgh to be seen widely around...? You get the idea of what I would like to know :)

Thx in advance.

Cheers,

Xavi

We had this discussion in detail before, I'll see if I can find it. :;):   Found it !  Go to Forum Search, type in Titan Legions, you'll find a post dated 11 Sep.03, entitled Titan Legions Organization.  Tas found the definitive answer !   :;):

Titan Legions existed in the Dark Age of Technology so in that respect it would be OK to have one. However, I think two legions is too much for a (relatively) small area.

Good :) Didn't solve my doubts about how common the legions are but was an extremely interesting topic. :) In any case I will follow your advise: Only one legion, but it will be a pretty big one.

Would somebody mind giving a basic layout of the different types of titans? I know there are at least 4 of them (warhound, reaver, warlord, Emperor/Imperator?). I hink I listed them from lighter to heavier tan, but any general layout of them would be greatly appreciated. s you can see my fluff knowledge outside the skirmish sized games (40k) is clearly limitied ;) Epic remains a mistery to me to this day.

Health and a lot of sixes,

Xavi

Yep, you got the four types- a Warhound is the smallest, with just two weapon mounts- it is designed for fast strikes and scouting and is the quickest type of Titan.
The Reaver is a step up, bigger and heavier with two to three hard points..
The Warlord is the most common, with a mighty four hard points- it can absorb a lot of firepower and still remain standing...
The Emperor class is the largest of the lot- these 25 to 40 metre tall giants are decked out with collosal weapons and banks of void shields- only a massive concentration of heavy firepower will have a chance a taking one down...

Jimbo's site has a page with some great examples of the different sizes, here: http://www.felixent.force9.co.uk/phoepic10_1.html

Hope thats a bit of a help, I'm sure the others will have lots more to add!

"Go with what you know !" ?There is a lot of information here on Titans. ?Check it out, before "putting pen to paper" if that is your intent. ?I've been collecting Epic since SM1 in '90 so there is a lot of data and fluff around, to be concerned with. ?But I say go for it ! ?:;):

De'Aynes is run by me!!! I'm glad you liked it, feedback is always welcome :D

I think the thing is that although we have a rough idea about titan legions are organised like (thanks Tas) there is still no fixed system. A legion with 100 titans will be organised different to one with 25 etc. etc.

Plus many people fail to remember Tech Guard! How many regiments of those guys are attached to a TL?

Cheers

Chris

Hi!

There are no hard and fast rules for how big a TL is. GW may have mentioned many TL fluffwise, but never detailed them in terms of number and type of titans.

I think it does give you a free hand in doing what ever is best for your background.
