Post subject:  most modern craftworld....?

So I've decided to go the painful route with my Eldar and instead of making a single, general purpose set of models with a neutral paint scheme, I've decided that I want to actually collect 3 distinct eldar armies, Biel-Tan, Ulthwe and Iyanden.....

I'm going to attempt to differentiate them somewhat by using different vehicle versions.... the Iyanden guys are getting the 'oldest' style vehicles (E40K where possible) as well as the prototype flyers (assuming I can track some down) I'm using the rationale that as a craftworld with a tiny population, they have to maintain what they have rather than building new stuff....

I'm wondering however how to set up the other two, both are very militarised with larger forces, which should have the MK2 falcons, nightspinners and firestorms as well as the FW flyers?

I'd like the armies to have different models as well as different paint schemes if possible.... any fluffophiles got an opinion?

Biel-Tan is the most aggressive and militaristic of the main Eldar craftworlds, looking to re-establish the Eldar empire. As a result, I would say that the Biel-Tan force would be most likely to have the most up-to-date equipment, since they would be optimised for war, especially in view of the number of Aspects at their disposal.

They where all made at roughly the same time give or take a few Millennia before the fall..
I'm with Irisado that Biel-Tan would be the most modern and the least Iyanden as the Tyranid invasion depleted their numbers.

If you're using the net ea lists then the chrone world would be the most archaic. However, I suspect hope not painting up an army you can't use at UK tournaments so I'd say iyanden probably most old school, i'm not sure whether biel Tann would be the most modern as they also have the least communication with the outside world and are highly sect based so possibly less innovative. Weirdly, alaitoc with all their rangers etc might be the most modern.

You know you want to.
Deep down inside, you know it makes sense . . . .

Ulthwé's Eldar spend too much time on the Path of the Seer to learn how to fight [4th ed. codex] or, presumably, to craft vehicles and weapons. They also don't believe that it's their mission to reconquer and repopulate the galaxy like Biel-Tan does.

But I wouldn't assume that there are newer or older versions, only different styles that have always existed.

Yeah I'm doing mine as Mymera, then I will pick and choose which list for them.

On second thought, you can make a case for Ulthwé getting better vehicles. I hadn't thought of Bonesingers (they were only detailed in later fluff) but their path is said to be related to that of the Seer, and that's big there. That should mean more titans and superheavies (other than Void Spinners), and the best War Walkers and support weapons.

Biel-Tan should use its Guardians in a background role, consolidating safe objectives, manning the artillery, and transporting Aspect Warriors. That means the fastest or best-protected Wave Serpents. If they get the latest aircraft, paint them as Aspect Warriors (6th edition 40k added a fighter pilot aspect).

Saim-Hann is decidedly not modern.

Another second thought: would Iyanden really have dated equipment? It was one of the biggest craftworlds until the Tyranid attack. That event only happened in 992.M41. If the 40k setting is perpetually set at the end of the 41st millenium, that's damned recent. If they're using old equipment, it's because they had to raid the museum after their terrible losses, not because they never had the latest.
