Because the Plaguereaper is a conversion of an existing model, while the Decimator is a fan-made tank that'll never get a model at all.

But the Decimator is part of an official armylist while the Plaguereaper seems to be  only an example for a VDR vehicle :)

Everything I've heard indicates that the Plaguereaper is not a VDR vehicle, but that it will be an official addition to the background in the same manner as the Brass Scorpion.

IE: I think that picture may have been labeled 'conversion' in a somewhat misleading manner, because I *think* that what you see there is the result of an official conversion kit.

I'm sure it'll get confirmed one way or the other soon.

So, Jervis is "just" a fan now? ?The Decimator and Deathwheel were both his creations for the Black Legion list, so I'm not sure where this "fan-made" thing is coming from.

And I'd say the Plaguereaper is more a Death Guard vehicle than a Black Legion one anyway...

Also to further that, as the BL is now official, all units in it - including the Decimator and Death Wheel, now represent official GW IP

I think that the point that Evil&Chaos is trying to make is that the perspective will be different for a, for example, 40K player wanting to get into EA.

This type of player will specifically look for a Plaguereaper, perhaps wanting to field a load of this due to Apocalypse, and wont find it. Instead, he will find a Decimator, which - to him - will lack colour as it is 'not Nurgle', and is not represented in any way in 40K. Therefore, for him, no matter how official it is, it wont be 'real'.

Now, we know what is more official, and that the Decimator is a child of Jervis ( ?:O ?) and came first, but he wont.

CyberShadow's got it.

As I said earlier in the thread, keeping the Decimator and not renaming it the Plaguereaper only helps to alienate new players. New players want to find they same things they know from 40k, not similar, but entirely different things.

Essentially they want 40k on a bigger scale, not 40k-from-five-years-ago on a bigger scale.

I certaily see the point. However I'd prefer if we somehow made the Plaguereaper a Decimator with a mark of Nurgle in the BL list so the Decimator itself remains technically Undivided. It would just require a minor re-write in the unit description. The Plague Reaper should definitely be available in a Death Guard list and possibly also in the LatD list IMO.

I sent my recommendations to Zac (and Audrey and the ERC as well):

Get an edited and formatted list in the vault ASAP.

Begin an overhaul once all the other GW material is out.  There's simply too much stuff to incorporate in a reasonable time.  There's new FW minis, AI stuff, Things from the Codex (btw, in a rare appearance, JJ reviewed the BL list and gave us a "heads up" about some of the codex stuff - w00t!), and the new Apocalypse.

I am a big proponent of the value of making Epic accessible to 40K players.  I just think that this is yet another project that is heading down the path of never-ending minor revisions and total confusion about "official-ness".

Great news :)

"Heads up" to which of the Codex stuff?

The only problem is that the Plaguereaper is apparently a warped Baneblade, but meh, I think I've yelled my piece. :D

I bet he mentioned Raptors? :)

It was mostly naming conventions they had revised but had a bit of mechanical info as well.  Some of it was stuff readily available in the rumor mills but a couple things I hadn't heard elsewhere.  I'm not really sure how much is for public consumption so I don't want to give out more details.

However, Raptors weren't mentioned...  :p
