Second game Sotec broke out an alternate Biel-Tan list, we shifted the scenery, and got stuck in again!

Setup

4x6 table
Biel-Tan chose edge deployment.

Garrisons and Deployment

Biel-Tan kept the both the Aspect Warhosts in reserve via the Wraithgate.

Biel-Tan had no garrisons.

Orks garrisoned the Stormboyz ahead, with Gunzmob 1 on overwatch and in cover and Gunzmob 2 on overwatch and in cover guarding both forward Ork Objectives.

Turn 1

No teleports.

Strategy roll: Orks

Zoom zoom! ?Blitz Brigade 1 doubles up the right flank to fire on Engines of Vaul 1, doing 1DC damage to the Storm Serpent.

Blitz Brigade 2 follows suit, doubling on the other EoV Troupe? which is 9cm from the forest's edge? and obliterates the Cobra!

The Phoenix Bomber pilots haven't finished their fruit smoothies, and since the Autarch isn't watching, they Stand Down and finish their delicious drinks!

The Fighta-bommaz dive down trailing thick black smoke to pummel EoV 1 for 1 Blast marker.  The Orks take 1BM trying to avoid the Eldar flak coverage and fly of into Eldar territory.

The Nightwings dive out of the sun to ground attack the Kult of Speed trashing 2 War Buggies and 1 Warbike.

The Stormboyz double straight ahead and the Deth Koptas pop-up to place a Blast marker on the Swords of Vaul.

Guardian Warhost 2 marches forward into the cover of woods near Gunzmob 2, but well out of sight.

The Kult of Speed doubles forward, but has not targets and just talks trash.

Engines of Vaul 1 double forward on Blitz Brigade 2 but score no hits.

Stompamob 2 doubles forward and puts the hurt on the Engines of Vaul doing another 1DC damage to the Storm Serpent and breaking the superheavy grav-tanks which flee back to where they started.

The Swords of Vaul advance on the Stormboyz lashing out with deadly laser fire? and take out a single Deth Kopta?

Stompamob 1 feels left out so the Warboss successfully marches his ladz forward.

The Wraithgate opens and the Autarch leads out his warriors engaging the Stormboyz? who bizarrely counter charge Guardian Warhost 1 and the Swords of Vaul (who were precisely 10cm away!). ?

The foolishness of the jackbooted Orks becomes obvious when they are completely wiped out without scoring a single hit! ?All three Eldar formations move forward. ?(I went kamikaze with the Stormboyz in hopes of just inflicting some damage on the various nearby formations? scoring zero hits kind of kept that from happening? *sigh*)

Guardian Warhost 1 advances to fire on the Kult of Speed, breaking the Ork speed freaks.

Gunzmob 1 doubles forward to catch Aspect Warhost 1 in range of its Soopaguns and 1 Warp Spider and 1 Warp Spider Exarch are torn apart by the blasts.

Gunzmob 2 stays on overwatch and waits?

End of Turn: The Swords of Vaul fail to rally for Biel-Tan while all Ork mobz rally!

Turn 2

No teleports.

Strategy roll: Biel-Tan

Engines of Vaul 1 doubles forward blasting Blitz Brigade 2, killing both Flakwagonz and 1 Gunwagon.

The Autarch uses an engage to pounce on the savaged Orks and wipes out Blitz Brigade 2 without taking a single casualty! ?They move into the woods for cover and for potential support of other attacks.

The Storm Serpent's Portal shimmers open and Aspect Warhost 2 moves out to engage Blitz Brigade 2, with the support of the other Aspect Warhost. ?Two units of Howling Banshees are reduced to Spirit Stones, but it's worth it, as only a single Flakwagon survives of the clanking Orky tanks! ?Both Aspect formations stay close and in cover.

Stompamob 1 doubles forward to rain death on EoV 1 and Aspect Warhost 1. ?The Scorpion takes 1 DC damage and the formation breaks, while the Aspect Warriors suffer no casualties, but do take 2 Blast markers.

Stompamob 2 does something nearly unthinkable as it sustains fire on both nearby Aspect Warhosts! ?The last 2 Warp Spiders and 1 Dark Reaper lose their lives and 1 Striking Scorpion is also reduced to component atoms, breaking both Aspect Warhosts.

The Phoenix Bombers make an appearance and bomb the beans out of the exposed Gunzmob 1? three broken Big Gunz are all that survive the clouds of mono-filament.

The Kult of Speed doubles around Guardian 2 and BBQs 1 Guardian and the Farseer!

The Swords of Vaul attempt to advance but get bogged down and only manage to snap off some ineffective shots on Stompamob 1.

The Fighta-bomma pilots feel they've done enough work for the moment and even they yelling of the Warboss on the intercom doesn't motivate them to get down to dakka. (That's *five* "snake-eyes".)

The Nightwings come down to ground attack the Kult of Speed trashing 1 Buggy and 1 Bike, easily breaking the Orks, who zip off towards cover near the Eldar baseline.

Guardian Warhost 1 doubles towards Stompamob 1 and puts another Blast marker on them.

Guardian Warhost 2 marshals, standing firm and clearing all their Blast markers?

End of Turn: All Eldar formations rally successfully, while all Ork formations fail to rally successfully!

Turn 3

Hey look, the Avatar is back and he's right near the Warboss!


Strategy roll: Orks (on a tie)

Stompamob 2 doubles forward, blasting both EoV 2 and Aspect Warhost 1. ?The Storm Serpent is torn apart and 1 Dire Avenger dies and both Eldar formations are broken.

Stompamob 1 doubles away from the Avatar and fires on the Swords of Vaul? only the two Firestorms survive the Orky onslaught.

The Nightwings perform a ground attack on Stompamob 1, but do no damage.


The Fighta-bommaz get back to work, strafing EoV 2, and destroying the Scorpion with a critical hit which *almost* sucks in the Autarch? but doesn't? *sigh*

The Phoenix Bombers ground attack Stompamob 1 and score an incredible *9* hits with their pulse attacks? and kill 1 Stompa? (*sigh* for Sotec)

The Avatar chases after Stompamob 1 and engages them in a firefight. ?No kills are scored, but the battleraging Eldar God wins by "1", taking out a Stompa and breaking the Orks.

Aspect Warhost 2 marshals, moving into a better position and clearing all their Blast markers.

Gunzmob 2 stays on overwatch.

Guardian Warhost 1 double towards Stompamob 1, scares away 1 Stompa and drops 1 Power field.

Guardian Warhost 2 doubles back to fire on the Kult of Speed and takes out 1 Skorcha?

End of Turn: The surviving Firestorms and the Autarch fail to rally for the Eldar and the Warboss, even with a re-roll, fails to rally Stompamob 1 for the Orks. (That's *six* failed Supreme Commander re-rolls!)

Score: Biel-Tan 0 (none) vs Orks 1 (BTS)

Strategy roll: Biel-Tan (on a tie!)

The Nightwings strafe Stompamob 2 and take out 1 Stompa.

Aspect Warhost 2 engages the savaged Stompamob 2, strips all Power Fields and sends the Supa-Stompa running off on its own, leaving Ork wreckage behind.

Guardian Warhost hears the order to engage, asks for confirmation, and then engages Gunzmob 1, wiping out the Orky contraptions.

The Fighta-bommaz ground attack the Firestorms, killing 1.

Guardian Warhost 2 marches forward in an attempt to blockade Gunzmob 2? who finally let lose, blowing away 1 Wraithguard, 2 Guardians, and 2 Support Platforms, breaking the daring Eldar who fall back to the woods.

The Phoenix pilots thought the battle was already over and had ordered another round of smoothies so they fail to make an appearance?

End of Turn: The Warboss again fails to rally even with a re-roll (For a Grand Total of seven failed Supreme Commander re-rolls over eight turns? which is how many I rolled? *SIGH*),

Score: Biel-Tan 0 (none) vs Orks 1 (BTS)

Tie-breaker: Biel-Tan 2012 vs Orks 1625

Eldar objective seems really close to the table edge.

Again, great report. Pretty cool to sit down with Sotec for a day of battles while the Eldar are under rework.

I see he went a bit more EoV heavy this battle and threw in the bombers. I guess it helped in the end as he was able to deal more damage.

His use of the wraithgate also seems a bit more reserved than what I've seen locals do with it. (pulling it back from the front lines a bit.)

Again a tie breaker match with the orks, though the points have shifted sides.

So all in all, I guess I'm curious how you two felt of the 1.5 experimental eldar changes again. :)

Love the armies too - too bad you two didn't get a few more close ups!

Well, I think the game would've been a lot more decisive if his Bombers had showed up even one more turn... *laugh*

And, as to EoVs... I sure like blowing them up! ?The Cobra did *not* get a good workout that day. ?*laugh*

Hmmm... I'm not getting what you're referring to here. ?Since I, as the opponent, place the two Eldar side objectives, I get to decide the one of two places the Wraithgate can be. ?Knowing there were foot-slogging Aspect Warhosts in there, I set the options as far back as I could!

I must say these recent changes have made the Eldar much more challenging to play and almost all the games have been nail-biters, as opposed to the, generally pretty common, Eldar walks-in-the-park!

There's some fine tuning that needs to be done... and I'm not sure how I feel about the potential changes the new Eldar Codex will produce, but, I must say, all the playing has been a blast! ?*laugh*

Love the armies too - too bad you two didn't get a few more close ups!
Thanks again! ?I think we just got too involved in the game, there were a lot of "We probably should have taken a picture of that!" moments after we cleared models away. ?Sotec took a bunch of pictures of the fights as well that I hope he shares!

Well, tonight I've got a classic game of Marines vs Orks to play, so, no need to take notes or worry about pictures, just straight gaming fun! ?*laugh*

You know - we've always played that the Eldar player got to place his wraithgate objective. I don't know why we've done that - but we have. Heh... hmm...

Tactica, next thing you'll be telling me is that you thought the Spirit Stones rule says that the Eldar always win the game and that's why you're so strongly against them...   :D
