Got in my first battle testing the new Eldar changes and was able to do a battle log.  Focus was on Holofield changes and Swords of Vaul formations.

Will try to get it all up this evening.

Garrisons and Deployment

Biel-Tan kept the Warp Spiders in reserve via the Wraithgate.

Necrons kept all formations in reserve.

Biel-Tan garrisoned the Ranger Troupe scattered about the ruins around the Wraithgate and on overwatch.

The rest of Biel-Tan deployment is as shown below:

Turn 1

Necrons teleport in four Monolith formations and the Pylon? the Monoliths arrive safely, but the Pylon suffers 2 Blast markers when appearing in the woods and is instantly broken!

Strategy roll: Biel-Tan

The Revenants bound forward on a double to blast Monolith 3? even with the new pulse benefits they only score 3 hits which are all saved by the Necrons.

The Wraithgate shimmers open and the Autarch leads her Warp Spiders into combat against Monolith formation 4, barely in range of the support of Monolith 3, but with the support of the Rangers, Revenants, and Guardian Warhost 2? no Eldar lives are lost as the Necron war machines are wiped out? breaking nearby Monolith 3. ?The Warp Spiders jump forward to protect the Guardians.

Using a second retain, Swords of Vaul 1 double towards Monolith formation 2? and pulse apart the Monolith!

Wiping sweaty oil  from his brow, the Necron leader orders Monolith 1 to double forward and fire on the Falcons? placing a single Blast marker, but moving into support range.

Following up, Phalanx 1 emerges from the Portal of broken Monolith 3 and engages the intermingled Guardian Warhost 2, Aspect Warhost, and Swords of Vaul 1?

Two Necron Warriors are dropped via the Warp Spiders and another goes down from the Guardians? but the Eldar are brutalized, losing in the end 6 Warp Spiders, including the Exarch, 2 Guardians, 3 Heavy Weapons, and 2 Support Weapons. ?Being just in support range, the Revenants suffer a Blast marker.

Sensing looming trouble, the Swords of Vaul 2 double forward to fire on Monolith 1? placing a single Blast marker?

Phalanx 2 then strides forth from the Portal in Monolith 1 and engages the intermingled Rangers, Revenants, and Fire Prisms, along with the broken Warp Spiders and Guardian Warhost 2! (With the Rangers as the "primary" target, all those other formations were within 10cm of a Ranger unit? I really need to pay more attention to the lessons I've been teaching my opponents!) ?The Rangers remember that they're on overwatch and fire on the approaching Necrons, dropping the Necron Lord and Pariah before they reach the Eldar? and the battle then gets nasty! ?Two Rangers die, and both Revenants take damage, -2DC to Revenant 1 and -1DC to Revenant 2? but the massed Eldar troops manage to completely wipe out the leaderless Necron Warriors handily winning the fight. ?Even the broken Autarch cheers!

Eques 1 then doubles out of the Tomb Complex to fire on the nearly broken Revenants? Revenant 1 takes a single DC of damage, crashing to the ground and breaking its brother Titan which flees for cover.

The Night Spinners spin up to sustain fire on Eques 2, scoring many hits and taking out 2 Heavy Destroyers, breaking the formation.

Lastly, Guardian Warhost 1 doubles forward to get close to the Necron Pylon, but fires to no effect?

End of Turn: Broken Monoliths and Necron infantry fade away? and no broken formations for either side manage to rally!

Turn 2

The broken Farseer of Guardian Warhost 2 calls forth the Avatar to protect them.

And the Necrons teleport in all remaining Monolith formations and Monolith 5 takes 2 Blast markers and breaks!

Strategy roll: Biel-Tan

The Guardians, Weapon Platforms, and Wraithguard of Warhost 1 sustain fire on Monolith 3, wiping out the floating Necron menace.

The Avatar then roars and rushes forward to engage Phalanx 1? in a gout of molten metal both the Necrons and the Avatar wipe each other out! ?(So, who wins when everybody dies?)

For a triple, the Fire Prisms double forward to fire on Monolith 5, and destroy the Obelisk.

The Portal on the broken Monolith glows green and Phalanx 3 moves forward to engage the intermingled Warp Spiders, Fire Prisms and Night Spinners. ?(I kind of forgot about the scout on Warp Spiders, but my opponent kindly reminded me?) ?Even broken, the Autarch gives little ground, though her companion dies as does one of the Fire Prisms, but the Eldar manage to eliminate all the Necrons except the Pariah who cautiously steps back?

Monolith1 attempts to sustain fire on the Rangers, but fails, getting another Blast marker and laying a single 1 on the Eldar scouts.

The Rangers advance on the surviving Pariah of Phalanx 3, but are unable to drop the abomination lurking in the ruins.

The remaining Obelisk of Monolith 2 advances on the broken Falcons and takes one out.

The Night Spinners sustain fire on Monolith 5, hoping to destroy it, but their mono-filament webs slide off the living metal for no effect.

Eques 1 the issues forth from the Portal of Monolith 1 to engage the intermingled Rangers and broken Guardian Warhost 2; the Necrons lose a single Heavy Destroyer and both Eldar formations are wiped out.

Eques 2 zooms out of the Tomb Complex on a double to blast the Fire Prisms, taking out two and breaking the formation?

End of Turn: Broken Monoliths and Necron infantry fade away? and again the Pylon fails to rally!

It's even worse for the Eldar as only the Fire Prisms rally, leaving them with 1 Blast marker?

Turn 3

Monolith 5 reappears near the broken Revenant, hoping to redeem itself!

Strategy roll: Biel-Tan

The Night Spinners spin their webs, sustaining on Eques 1, but only manage to place 3 Blast markers.

Guardian Warhost 1 doubles, spreading out onto the Necron half of the table and securing Necron Objective 1. ?They fire on Eques 2 to no effect. ?(Dang Wraithguard and their single shot! ?*laugh*)

The Fire Prisms prepare to march to the Tomb Complex? but the cries of the Autarch confuse them? and they break! ?(The only activation I failed all game? and I even failed the re-roll! ?*sigh*)

The Pariah of Phalanx 3 steps out of Monolith 5 to engage the surviving Revenant within the Gauss Flux Arc of the Monolith? the Eldar Titan crushes the Pariah underfoot before the Monolith can fire? breaking the Monolith!

Eques 1 doubles forward to fire on the Revenant, but scores no hits, their firepower greatly reduced by suppression.

Easily securing the Eldar Blitz, the Obelisk of Monolith 2 sustains fire on the Night Spinners, doing no damage.

Eques 2 advances on the Revenant, but their shooting is also for nought and the Eldar Titan still stands.

Monolith 1 just advances slightly to claim the Wraithgate and Eldar Objective 1?

End of Turn: Broken Monoliths and Necron infantry fade away? and again the Pylon fails to rally? it did nothing the entire game! ?For the Eldar, only the Autarch manages to remove her broken status?

Biel-Tan 0 (none) vs Necrons 2 (Blitz, T-n-H)

Aside - I had only 2 units on the Necron half of the table and only 2DC remaining of my BTS goal... a little more luck (or a working Pylon!) for the Necrons would've been a 4-0 blowout for them!

Wow... That sounds like one heck of a bloody battle! Painful for both sides and full of death. What'd you think of the Pulse-changes? And the holofields?

It was bloody! Truth be told, I thought I was pooched in the first turn when I lost 2 Monoliths straight away. We took turns swinging from winning to losing. I'm not framiliar enough with the Eldar rules to really comment but the new pulse rules seemed effective without being too killer (excepting crappy dice rolls). The new holofield rules just didn't seem to fit. Sure they worked but it didn't really seem to protect the titans much. If I had made a concerted effort to gun them down I could have done it in a single turn easily. The new AV formations felt alright and seemed to be fairly effective - but again I don't know what they were like before.

Oh, I've got some thoughts... *laugh*

I'm just hoping to get in a few more games with the 1.2 rules before I comment.  Somethings seem good, some not... *laugh*
