I play Sam Hain with a mix of bikes and guardians/wave serpents. Recently played a casual mess around game with another eldar player who had the whole smorgasbord of minis. Made me think about the effectiveness of aspects vs. grunt guardians.
Any viewpoints on this? From my perspective (almost entirely using them to attack or support FF) I did not see much difference between the aspects and guardians, but looking to see what other who have more experience in playing with (or against) aspects have to say.

Well, Aspects have 1+ Init, so they're going to usually go do what you want them to, as well, they've got armour, so they tend to have better survivability.
Point for point though, I feel a Guardian Warhost with Wraithguard is more worth your while than an Aspect Warhost with Exarch... those damn Wraithguard are nasty!
Of course you can really customize your response with mixed Aspects. Though a pure Warp Spider Warhost is probably one of the most frighting things Eldar can field, especially out of a Portal.

I use my guardians (with wraith-friends) to hold objctives, while I use my aspects to break formations in assaults. Two different uses for two different formations.

For +150 points, they're a no-brainer and an incredible force multiplier for Guardian Warhosts. ?If they were pushed up to 200 points or so, they'd start to lose a little of their lustre. ?They *should* be frightening, but they're just too cheap.
I've seen then used as more of an assault unit than a defensive force: coming out of a Storm Serpent (that's prepped a target enemy formation by placing blast markers) it's a force few can stand against, particularly in a clipping assault situation.
Though, at 350 points, a Warp Spider Warhost with 2 Exarchs is a very close run for a Guardian Warhost with Wraithguard and Support Platforms... though, I feel, the bulk number of units and MW attacks probably tips it towards the Guardians. ?Those two formations are probably the best things in the Biel-Tan army.
