As the subject - Biel Tan is the only official one as far as I can tell, but its missing some things like Aspect troupes. Is there a generic Eldar list, official or otherwise?

There are currently ones for each of the major Craftworlds. You could use them to build a 'generic' list if you wanted. I'd recommend Altaioc as the most 'generic' of the lot. The only thing they get which is particularly different from normal is access to more Rangers and Pathfinders, which you can just as easily not take and use as a 'generic' force. But no, there's no 'vanilla' list for Eldar, currently.

Interesting, when they posted the Biel-Tan list jervis said it should be used as the "Vanilla" list if any were needed.
Further this was in the file published out as well:
Using The Army List
The following army list allows you to field an Eldar army that is based on an force from Biel-Tan Craftworld.
Players with Eldar armies painted up to represent troops from other craftworlds should feel free to use the Biel-
Tan army list for their army. Additional army lists for other craftworlds will be published over time, but for the
moment the Biel-Tan army lists can be considered representative of the armies raised by any craftworld.
So I would think the Biel-Tan is what you are looking for.

Biel-Tan can be used for it. But it's not really representative of most of the Eldar. For instance, it has Aspect Warrior Warhosts which most Craftworlds don't have. And no Troupes for the same, which most do field them as. I'd use Altaioc as the 'default' list myself. But more or less you could use any of the lists and make up your own army with it's own unique background to explain the existance of specific units. Particularly martial craftworlds/exodite worlds would be Biel-Tan. Ones who put heavy emphasis on farseers and warlocks would be Ulthwe. And so on.

That's what I was thinking. Although Biel-Tan is the official list it's not representative of vanilla eldar, the equivalent of the Renegades version of the list. It's easy to make the list generic by replacing aspect hosts by aspect troupes (I think that's the only necessary change) but I wondered if that is written down somewhere.

You'd loose the Voidspinners as well. Otherwise I think it'd be largely left alone. I'd try to do it with Ulthwe myself. It's about as close to vanilla as you can get really. The trouble is a 'vanilla' Eldar list would require you to take Guardian formations to be your base-point and would have fairly few advantages over any of the Craftworlds. Ulthwe and Altaioc always felt the most 'vanilla' to me. As far as style to play.

Sorry, was not trying to say you *HAD* to use Biel-Tan. In fact, I do not care what GW says, I follow the L4 DWWFY rule.
I was just trying to share what Jervis had said in response to the same question and share what was published out.
The fact is, based on the fluff, there is no such thing as a "Generic" Eldar Craftworld. They are all different. Even when the Fluff tells us there are more Craftworlds then those examples given, they make it clear each has a unique flavor.
So in the long run, what ever list you start with, adjust, and morph, it will be OK. Your vision will work as long as you and your friends agree.

I would make the argument that Biel Tan is the most generic eldar list.
Most craftworlds are supposed to use their Aspects as their primary military except when pressing need arises. For the size of a normal Epic battle, having Aspects as the backbone of the eldar force should be perfectly acceptable for most craftworlds.
