Looking for player insite on EoV SHT's when playing Biel-Tan

1. Which are your favorite EoV's?

2. Why are they your favorite - how are you using them?

3. What formation sizes do you field them in 1, 2, or 3 to a formation?

4. How often do you field EoV in your games (staple choice, usually field them, rarely field them even though I love em)?

5. Which EoV are your least favorite?

6. Why?

Thanks for the input gents,

1: Storm serpent! Scorpion and cobra touch&go. Don't touch the Void spinner as it's fluffwise biel-tan EOV and my craftworld ain't biel-tan so I won't touch it even if I use biel-tan list.
2: Storm serpent: Mobile wraithgate! What more could you ask of EOV  :laugh: . Just have to love ability to skim in 50cm(on double which allows to shoot as well) or 75cm and then pour some nasty assault troop from inside. Guardians with both spirit upgrades in particular is dead nasty. Scorpion OTOH has nice flexible gun while cobra is deadly against titans. Even if it's bit of hit or miss.
3: 1 per formation. More than that and bit too expensive activation. Also they are more flexible that way.
4: Practically each game has one or more EOV's.
5&6: Void spinner but that's fluff objection. Out of the 3 cobra is least favourite but it's also most specialised.

Cobra in pairs to kill everything. 2 templates to slaughter infantry, titans, vehicles. Used with experimental barrage rules.
Only superheavy that is better is the chaos ignore cover MW one.

Scorpions, almost always use them - 2 or 3 of them in formations of 1 (sometimes 2).

Most of the games I play are against guard and marines and scorpions are the best choice here.

Have used all the others occasionally, Void Spinners are quite good (but are mostly useful against the horde armies), Storm serpents are very good but require you to build a list centered around their abilities to get best use out of them. Cobra's look great on paper but I have always found them dissapointing in a game.

Scorpions.

60cm range, 2+ pulse.  With 2+ to hit, there is seldom a real need to sustain fire.  Between popups, range, decent armor and Spirit Stones (DC3 = no BMs on rally), they are extremely tough.  It's a popup machine and with skimmer, quick move and range is nearly impossible to pin down.  Use a normal move to popup, fire, retreat/relocate.

I frequently see troupe allocations maxed out, largely filled with Scorpions, making for a very high activation count of durable formations.


None of the EoV are dogs.  I think all of them are worth the points.

Definitely some varying opinions, but the common thread is Scorpion is the most flexible and all have uses.

I've decided that I'm going to get 3 of all of them and be done. :)

That should fill out my army nicely enough. Off to order.

Scorpions are the stock standard I use, groups of two. Cobras definitely in groups of two due to the funny way the barrage table works...

All have a role... I sometimes wonder whether storm serpents and cobra are overpowered...

Shame they are so expensive - no object to Tactica apparently! :O

Cw & Markconz,

Well - if you are going to commit... better to have the options you might want to use. I figure I'll never want more than 3 of the same vessel on the field.

No lottery, but recieved the annual bonus. So, a little splurge never hurt anyone.

I'm not made of any more $ than the rest of you are I'm sure.
