G'day folks

Firstly thanks for your patience in waiting for the update regarding the Iyanden Craftworld list. I am aware that there are many who are eagerly waiting to see 'where to' for the Iyanden Craftworld. I have been working behind the scenes of late and consulting with Tiny-Tim, PFE100 and Pati regarding the direction of the Iyanden Craftworld and how that fits with the general direction of all the Eldar lists. I feel the list is now in a good position for game testing with further changes or adjustments from there. I am looking forward to working with everyone to progress the list. I do want acknowledge all those who have worked on the list prior to myself and hope to continue that good work.

Stat changes
1) General Eldar units have been brought into line with Biel-Tan v 4.2
2) Introduction of Wratihblade units
3) Spiritseers have had +1 In and Inv Sav removed
4) Wraithguard and Wraithblade take up two spaces each for the Vampires transport capacity.

Structural changes
1) ‘The Living few’ special rule has been removed and Troupes are now purchased on a one to one basis with Warhosts
2) ‘The Animated Construct’ special rule now effects all Wraithguard, Wraithblade and Wraithlord and formations they are part of
3) Guardians formations have been moved from the warhost to the troupe section of the list
4) Spirit Wraithlord warhosts have been moved from the troupe to the warhost section of the list, however their total number of warhosts may not exceed the total number of Spirit Wraithguard/Wraithblade warhosts
5) Spiritseers characters are part of the Spirit Wraithlord warhost with the option to upgrade for a Wraithseer
6) Spirit Wraithblade warhosts have been introduced to the warhost section of the list
7) Wraithblade units are now an upgrade for Spirit Wraithguard Warhost and Visa Versa
8.) Spirit Wraithblade/Wraithguard Warhosts now start at units strength of 4 with the option of further units added

There still maybe some typos within the list and I will adjust these as they are raised.

Cheers

Mic

Hey Mic,

I really like what you've done with the list.
Looking forward to play testing.

One thing i'd like to see considered for the future, is possibly wraithknights, potentially in a similar fashion to the way I have seen the Tau riptides included in one of their lists (name escapes me right now)

Thanks Mic,

Fudd, I would like to see an Eldar Knight list before attempting to bring them back into the other lists.

Hi, to start / continue the Vampire / WraithGuard debate, could someone explain the reasoning behind the limitation of WraithGuard.

Sorry Ginger. Do you mean why do the wraitguard take up two slots?

Correct. I have several theories personally, but wanted those developing the list to present their own reasoning.

Is it just size thing or a deliberate balancing nerf?

Arent they the same size as termies?

precisly what i was thinking... (terminators takes up 2 slots in transports).

Main thing is the basic formation dropping to 4 units. If the Raider could still take 8 then two formations could be placed in a single Raider thus making this a more powerful option than currently available.

Well when I suggested the smaller formation (which may or may not be the source of the change!) the other reason was to allow greater flexibility in the list build. The combination of stringent WG:other ratios and expensive WG formations meant there was very little wiggle room in what would make a successful build.

IMO this way gives a lot of choices:
- 4 WG on foot (275): blitz guard?
- 6 WG on foot (375): webway
- 4 WG in serpents (475): assault FM
- 4 WG in vampire (475): assault FM
- 6 WG in serpents (575): assault BTS?

Hey Fudd, cheers mate I am glad you like the list and I look forward to reading your battle reports. As Tiny-Tim explained there are already some thoughts and a plan for wraith knights, which will be good.

G'day Ginger, yeah mate I get that the vampire transport capacity is ongoing debated issue that has people in one camp or the other. There were a number of factors that weighed my reasoning. Probably the most glaring reason was disparities between WG in Wave Serpents Vs the Vampire.
For me this felt unbalanced and it made sense to adjust the vampire transport capacity, especially if you considered Terminators as a comparable unit type.
I did consider previous forum discussions and during the recent Australian Championships consulted with many players on their views which largely supported the change. Finally for me the change fit in well with my vision for Iyanden and still allowed WG or WB to transported into battle by a vampire. I am looking forward to reading how the vampire plays in other players battle reports.

Hi Kyrt, I did follow the previous discussions and I agreed with idea of the option for smaller WG and now WB formations. So did you impact that decision? Absolutely ;)
By having smaller formations it does bring more choice to the list without compromising the Iyanden flavour. Additionally it also help in addressing the previous 'living few' rule, which from my perspective seemed problematic.

All in all I know some of the changes might be a tough pill for some to swallow, but I do honestly believe the current position of the list is ready to steered by further game testing.

Cheers

Mic

I agree Kryt that the smaller starting base allows for greater options in the build and employment options.

4 Wraith Guard 2 Wraith Blades and 3 Wraithlords... webway! Yes Please!
The Animated Construct Special Rule has interesting implications on your spiritseer placement! Will be interesting to see how this list plays out.

Can anyone see any obvious over the top list builds?

Cheers
Jim

interesting new list. I cannot see anyone taking a unit of wraithblades in a competitive list though. Uvenlord plays Iyanden so this could be fun to face.

50pts cheaper and some times you just need that CC formation to hit your opponents main FF formation or shielded WE.
