been toying with the idea of starting a new army to try new playstyles, and finally decided to go with eldars (been playing with orks and necrons for looong loooong time) as they are the only army not available in my local club. But i´ve got a couple of questions: 1- been looking at the lists, seems that uthwe is quite better than the rest (sr5, better initiative) and no drawbacks... hope i missed something, also dont underestand why saim ham has sr3.... 2- i dont want to play using webway strategies, i´ve got enoough portal gaming with necrons... so wich other way do eldars play? i suppose they can have mobile armies 3- this is what i currently have: 1x Phantom Titan 2x Revenant Titan 3x Night Wings 1x Vampire Bomber 3x Phoenix Bombers 3x Night Spinners 2x Scorpion 4x Wave Serpents 7x Vypers 5x Jet Bikes 6x Falcons 2x WraithGuard 3x Fire Prisms 1x infantry box 3x Wraithlord 3x Support Platforms 3x Heavy Platforms 1x avatar and going to purchase a warlock, 2 voidspinners, second infantry box and the box with the firedragons... do i need anything else that i may have missed? maybe some more waveserpents? how many? 4- as a saim han lover, is a bike/vyper/falcon army playable? |

I think Saim Han is SR3 due to the more feral/barbaric nature of the craftworld; they are more likely to make rash decisions. Quote: 2- i dont want to play using webway strategies, i´ve got enoough portal gaming with necrons... so wich other way do eldars play? i suppose they can have mobile armies Webway, Mobile, and Air Assault/Planetfall are the most common strategies. Quote: 3- this is what i currently have: ... do i need anything else that i may have missed? maybe some more waveserpents? how many? More Wave Serpents is always good. A dozen or so is a good start. Get the Forgeworld version, it's cheaper and (IMO) better, except for the strangely undetailed canopy. Quote: 4- as a saim han lover, is a bike/vyper/falcon army playable? Absolutely. You will have a tough time getting enough jetbikes, but Saim Han is very playable. They are probably the most mobile style of Eldar, due to the fact they don't worry about getting their transports shot up. They are FF4+ with armor 5+ so they are at least as good as guardians in Wave Serpents (all armour 5+ instead of 2/3 Armour - and 1/3 armor 5+RA) against non-MW. You'll still want some Aspects in Wave Serpents for city fighting, but won't need too many. |

how will a planetfall army work? what units are needed? been looking a bit more at the eldar lists, still see uthwe and iyanden a bit above the rest... uthwe´s only drawback is allowing only 2 support per basic unit... not a real problem if you get SR5 and initiative 1+ guardians... iyanden is very similar to biel tan... but has more options available with no drawback in exchange, also the wraithlord units and wraithguard mech units seem interesting... but i think i´ll be playing saim-han, biel tan and titan legion lists... maybe not as good as the other two, but i prefer their background and playstyle... is there any available hornet proxy for a saim han army? |

Planetfall is more or less the same as a Marine list: a couple really hard unit dropping in Vampries, with support from the rest of the army. Has a tendancy to low activation count, though, much like Iyanden. Activation count is really the weakness of Iyanden, especially with Mech Wraithguard; 650 point units are fine in IG, but make Eldar tend to suffer. There is no proxy-that-looks-remarkably-like-a-Hornet proxy, though DRM Kraytonians might have some suitable proxies that are less close. Edit: The Kurall is pretty good, and leaves the Kijakk as a Vyper if neccessary. |

Scorpions, Avengers, or Fire Dragons in my experience. You used to be able to do it with Spirit Warhosts, butI'm not sure that's possible anymore. |

8 strong rangers units are actually really unpleasant if you get the positioning correct! |

Eldar Titan Clan!!! I really like Iyanden but have yet to mass enough Wraith units to try it out. I usually run Alaitoc because I like Rangers. Running a good amount of 4 Rangers/3 Warwalker screens can be annoying to deal with. |
