I've not been active in a while, but a couple comments/questions on the Yme-Loc list now that I've had time to digest it.

1) Chains of Vaul - Very fluffy name, I like it alot. However, in my Iyanden list I can play a Night Spinner Troupe for 175pt. Thats ~60pt/Spinner. For a 50pt Firestorm and 4 Spinners, Yme-Loc pays 400pt. thats ~85pt/Spinner. While 8BP is more than 33% more effective than 6BP, the extra 100pt is kind of crazy. Also, while I like the idea of air cover, I think it should be an option.

Perhaps 250pt for 4 Night Spinners, with an option for a Firestorm @50pt seems more reasonable.

2) Guardian Troupes - The Iyanden and Biel-Tan lists are written "Alternatively, formations consisting only of Guardians, Farseers and Heavy Weapon Platforms may be mounted in four Wave Serpents for +200 points." The Yme-Loc List states "Alternatively, the formation may be mounted in four Wave Serpents for +200 points. If this option is taken then the formation is only allowed to consist of Guardians and Farseers." Is this an oversight?

3)Swords and Engines Warhosts - I like the ability to have organic infantry support and outrider-type vehicles in what are normally pure tank formations. It allows for more versatility tooling for specific tasks. However, would it make sense to allow up to 3 Falcon variants (Falcon +50, Firestorm +50, Fire Prism +65) to the Engines Warhost?

4) Engines Troupes - I know fluffwise Void Spinners are Biel-Tan specific, but for a tank army, might it not make sense to include them as an option in the Engine Troupe (NOT the Warhost). They would probably be overlooked in most cases as 3BP is just not that impressive, but to have the option would be nice.

Finally, The Iyanden List currently has all Formations except the Avatar @ Initiative 2+. My understanding of the +1 to initiative rolls for Spirit/Wraithseers was to provide an equivalent to "Wraithsight." However the Spirit hosts have not had their Initiative dropped to 3+ to compensate. As much as Initiative 1+ Spirit Hosts appeal to me, this is probably not something we want...

Sorry for the long windedness...

Night Spinner actually only have 1BP each, so, the "normal" Troupe only has 3BP and, thus, one barrage template.

The Chains of Vaul Troupe has 4BP, giving them a second barrage template, doubling the area they can affect... that's 100% more effective, hence the increase in base formation cost.

More comments to come later, I just got home from D&D and it's late.  *laugh*

Whoops... Another way to tell that I'm updating army lists from mid '07...     That does make a big differance, then.

I agree totally on Point 1. Point 4 I believe should stay only with the Biel-Tan list.

Have you done any play tests with list?

No, though my group meets Thursday, and I  have a list ready. I'll have to break out the dozen SM-Era falcons I have stashed somewhere, but should get a read on the Chains, and also on relative effectiveness of an AP Swords (6 Falcons, 1FS, Mech. Guardians) and an AT version (3 Falcons, 1FS, 3 FP). I will probably be playing 2 FS at the expense of a Falcon eventually, but I've only got 3 FS right now...

I, too, think that the Void Spinner should be allowed in this list. There are barely enough eldar tank variants to have a tank list as it is, why should we deny one that has an official model?

I think in this case the practical merits of including the tank outweigh any distaste for going against some inconsequential minutia of the fictional backstory.

Hell, how anyone can view the Void Spinner as fitting into the Biel Tan worldview more than it does into a vehicle-reliant craftworld is beyond me.
