Thoughts on the Iyanden army list.

I have played three games in the last 3 weeks or so with them.

1st game vs. Frogbear and his World Eaters

I won 3-0

This was helpful as I realised how stupid I was to only take 1 storm Serpent and knew after this game you should have at least 2 Storm Serpents for each game.

2nd game vs. Trog and his new Space Marine force

He kicked my ass 2-0 I believe, this was my first loss to him in well over ten+ years.

This game showed me how fragile the army can be. I few unlucky rolls and suddenly I had lost a Spirit Warrior Warhost and a Spirit Warrior Troupe.

I was basically unable to bring my BTS onto the board, may partly be my fault but great plays from Trog destroyed me.

3rd game vs. LennonRuss and his Imp Guard

I believe I won 3-0

This game showed me how weak the Eldar Falcons and Fire Prism are. Lots of bad luck and some bad plays from russ enable me to win.

I guess some weak points I have seen in this list are the lack of Activations.

In all my games find that the Spirit Warrior Warhost either works very quickly or dies very quick, there is no in between.

Maybe a point reduction in the cost of Storm Serpents may help like in the the Biel-Tan Great Court of the young King List were they are 200pts each.

On a side note the Fire Prisms that I have field in the three games have only ever killed 1 Leman Russ.

Has anyone else played this list or against this list and if so can you please post thoughts?

Call me noodles but a 2-1 result seems balanced to me.

Ok Noodles was just making and post here as I was unable to post in the Iyanden Netea area as it was locked so was told should move it to a new thread.

BTW I should have lost the third game but that's a long story.

I played about 3 or 4 games in 2008. The list seemed ok to me, but I did want to do more testing of a spirit host in wave serpents as although expensive it was very effective.

It's been a while since I last played around wth this list, but I always thought that the Wraithguard formation (& possibly the Wraithlords as well) should have initiative 3+ with Spiritseers bringing it back to 2+. This is one of the armies that when it was released would then premote the greater use of snipers.

On paper the shooting looks devastating but in reality it isn't imo.

When I've been shooting wraithguard its after a double so they hit on 6's or 7's. Can't remember ever shooting on an advance or sustain as in either case I'd be in range of engaging the formation, which I'm likely to win and still be able to move afterwards.

I think the wraithguard are ok in other lists and they need a bit more testing to prove that the point cost for hosts is correct in Iyanden.

It is not the shooting but the FF of the unit which is a concern to me for them in the Iyanden list.

I would accept 1 FF MW, but 2xFF EA MW is too much IMO. They are too effective in this regard. Their effective charge range is 30cm to do this which lays waste to the idea that they are too slow as well.

They don't get 2 extra FF attacks only one.

The shooting attacks are on one line with an 'AND' that then states +1 EA MW. At least that's how I've always played and had it played against me.

I think he meant that it wouldn't be an issue if it's single FF was MW (like Fire Dragons). The reference to the "2xFF EA MW" was likely in error, meaning 2 Fire Fight Attacks, one being MW.
