The assemlbly of the eldar continues...
Having put together some fairly generic bunches of aspect warriors (tyipically 4 bases one of which includes and exarch) I am now moving on to more specific formations. I have done a couple of warhosts comprised of purely Swooping Hawk's where I have ncluded 2 exarchs.
Having read many of the articles on the forum I am currently putting together a pure Dark Reaper warhost. My natural instinct is to make two of the eight bases Exarchs. Would anyone do any different?
My main intention for their use would be to plant them in rough terrain and 'model' the battlefield, although would also consider thier use as fire support.
Thank you in advance of your comments.

The question on how to model Exarchs and Autarchs in an Aspect host is really down to taste and the number of the relevant models available. Essentially you can either choose to put a single Exarch on a base with other Aspects making it specific to that type, or you can make a unit up of all Exarchs (or all Autarch) and 'count as' the relevant Aspect unit.
Most people field two Exarch units in a Warhost for the +2 modification to the assault resolution they provide - and the Eldar are all about setting up and winning assaults. This also steps into the debate on the mix of Aspects in a Warhost (and yes you can put a whole 'rainbow' of types in if you like). Just how you mix them up is largely a matter of taste and tactics, mono type Warhosts work better in certain specialist roles while dual or even triple type Warhosts can be used to skew the tactics as desired.

So what I am hearing is that you would be hard pressed to find a aspect warrior host or troup which does not include the maximum exarchs/autarchs available. So in my example do 6 bases dark reapers and 2 bases dark reaper exarchs. I can then mix and match with my other aspect warriors or keep as a pure formation as it appears some have used to good effect.
Memo to self don't leave home without your exarchs.

Actually, if I were going to leave home without Exarchs, Dark Reapers would be the ones to leave them behind. DRs are really the only aspect warriors not geared heavily towards assaults. They can perform in a fire support capacity and do decent AP damage while their FF ability serves as a solid deterrent for people coming after them. That makes them a decent place to put an Autarch, because they are likely to be somewhat removed from the heavy fighting, but it makes Exarchs less valuable for them.
OTOH, if you are running a FF aspect host, Reaper Exarchs are a good choice. The +1 exarch attack at 3+FF is strong and having a couple of Reaper Exarchs in the formation means that they can place BMs out to 45cm. That can be extremely useful.
