My friend has a lot of IG.  He likes the tanks though. He will have: 650 Tank Company 500 Super-Heavy Tank Co.  (could have any mix) 250 Artillery Battery I have a feeling he will also go with: 200 4 Vultures (had them last time I watched him play) 150 Rough Rider platoon With the other 250 he may go with an Infantry Company (he just painted) or maybe an infantry platoon 100 and Fire Support 100 (also just painted).  He could also field another Artillery Battery if he wanted. I will be using the new Ulthwe list: 100 Seer Council 350 Guardian Warhost (4 Wave Serpents) 350 Guardian Warhost (3 heavy weapons, 3 support platforms, 3 wrathguard) 325 Swords of Vaul (5 Fire Prisms) 175 3 Night Spinners 200 Windrider troupe 500 2 Scorpions I had 200 pts left over.  Wanted to get some war walkers, but since I have 2 warhosts, I can only have 4 troupes.  I could have gotten more guardians, but they would have been naked; and the 2 brand new Warhosts I just got came with 10 bases each ![]() So, I went with the 3 Wraithguard and 3 Support Platforms for 200. Where should I put my Seer Council? I was thinking of trying the Spear of Khaine, but I thought the 3 Support Platforms would give more of a return. I would appreciate your thoughts, tactics, target priority, etc... ![]() |

I would actually drop the Seer Council, upgrade the Wave Serpent mounted Guardians to Black Guardians... and take the Spear of Khaine! |

Never ever play with eldar without supreme commander, ie. seer council. Those activation 1s really hurts you and it slows your movement advantage down. ![]() |

200pts; do Ulthwe not have web portals? I'd go with more guardians anda portal if so; an extra activation (and infantry at that) is always worth it. |

Yes, they get portals. I did not take one because, as I understand it, I can swap it with the objective that is placed on my table edge. The "my table edge" is what makes me wonder how effective it really is. Of course, I can't find where it said that now. How does one use a portal? How does one utilize a portal effectively? |

You replace an objective on your table *HALF*... so, one of the three objective on your side... so, depending on where your opponent puts their two forward "Take and Hold" objectives, they might be quite close to enemy formations. |

You need to remind yor opponent that Vultures cost 300pts. Personnally I would not have the Scorpions as my BTS. They are a bit too fragile against tanks. |

Of course, I can't find where it said that now.  How does one use a portal? How does one utilize a portal effectively? Remember that portals cost 50 points though in tournament games; that is for the swapping out of an objective. Portals are nice because they can be used to keep 'naked' formations behind in the Webway to avoid enemy fire. I personally never play without one, even if I don't use it. Your opponent is forced to place objectives and deploy his forces differently in order to avoid this Eldar advantage. If he places your objective toward the rear of your side, he will have a more difficult time taking that objective (and you will have an easier time defending it). Also, portals aren't just for slow infantry. They are great for jet bikes and shining spears to surprise careless moves on behalf of your opponent. I had a game where my buddy Steve brought two fresh Warhounds within 20cm of my Webway portal. I brought my Shining Spears from the Webway and went CC with him. The result was spectacular- for me anyway. ![]() |
