I've only just noticed that Wyches (and Haemonculi) don't have the option to take a Barge of Pleasure transport as an upgrade. Is there a reason it's restricted to core formations or is it just an oversight?

It is an oversight...  (Sigh).   Keep 'em comin', folks.  We'll get the list worked out.  Thanks, Pipboy.  FYI if you have an army in the works, any of your WIP pics or finished pics of your models would be most welcome.  PM me and we can discuss.

I'm just getting back into painting this week. In fact, I'm just basecoating my kabal syndicate right now. I'll get some pics up as soon as they aren't embarrassing to look at  :p

I still think this should all be covered by a "Dark Eldar Transport" rule, similar to the Space Marine one (but better written!)

Raiders as the "basic" transport, and then various upgrades/replacements available... and it would get rid of that Slavebringer oddity.

That's not bad.  I'll tinker with the idea and see what I come up with.  The Slavebringer comments will still be clunky but at least they will have a home instead of being wedged in between blocks.  The trick lately has been making the entire army list fit onto a single page without going to a size 2 on the font. :)

Here's the "Raiders Transport" rule I suggested a while ago:

Special Rule - Raider Transports

Dark Eldar tend to rely on aggressive speed and lightning attacks to accomplish their insidious objectives, because of this, the points cost of a formation usually includes enough Raider transport vehicles to transport it and any upgrades that have been taken.

In addition, some formations will have additional transport options that may replace a certain number of Raiders. The number of Raiders will always be the minimum needed to carry the formation, after any other transport options are taken; you can?t take extras along to cover any losses!  You do not need to include Raiders in a formation if your desire, allowing the formation to be deployed on foot or within a Slavebringer Assault Boat

Note that many formations don?t receive Raiders, usually because they can?t fit into them. Detachments that come with Raiders will be noted as having ?plus transport? in the units section of the army list.

I remember this.  I declined to go this direction just because of the special rule thing.  I didn't want yet another special rule for the list (this was before I was able to eliminate two of them).

Even now though I think the suggestion can be handled by a chart better than a special rule.  It can say "Raiders, 0 points - Barge of Pleasure yada yada yada)".  It is easier to digest IMO.

How's this for an army list layout?   :D

Why did you divide the Covens into three sections? Would be more understandable with just one.

It's just a "demo" layout... and those three sections are all distinct "cults", I just thought it was neat, I'm certainly not forcing anything!  *laugh*

And there is one change to the list as is. The current DE list has Slavebringer as dedicated transport for a certain formation at start. This would allow selecting transportable formation at deployment.
It's my suggestion to change that, as "dedicated WE *flying* transport" is quite a rules oddity.

Chroma, I'll email you the changes in the next hour.  As for the Slavebringer I am of the mindset to change it.  HOWEVER, I will not be changing it for a few good reasons:
1. The Dark Eldar are very weak on AA so allowing the Slavebringer to be taken outside of the 1/3 allotment allows the DE player to take more fighters if necessary.
2. The Slavebringer army from hell hasn't been played yet.  As they stand they have to be 'assigned' to a formation initially.  This means there can be no eternal air assaults starting on turn 1.  There would be a way to juryrig it for turn 2 but it would be difficult at best.
3. The feel of the DE is still maintained as each Slavebringer comes with a formation with which to take the slaves away.
4. The majority of the DE players (and there aren't many...yet) want to keep it as is.
I will be personally trying to break the Slavebringers on my next game but until then I'll be leaving it alone.

But all those things said, the pdf is beautiful and I'd like to see that applied to the rest of the Dark Eldar.  Maybe even the whole Raiders pdf!

I like the new list - it looks good. The cults section have a little more flavor to it I think. I did notice the the Scourge Flight can get a character and Reavers but not Scourges. Is that right??

Also, once I get more stuff painted I might have to build and cast a Slavebringer just to try out and all air deployed list. Oh and I'm going to be bloody sick of Raiders after building and painting this army. 20+ Raiders? Ugh.

There is a solution to your Raider problem.  I'm working on it and should be done in the next two-three weeks.  I'll PM you some details when I'm done.

Chroma's list is a 'sample' of what can be done but has some errors on it.  I've emailed him a list of the mistakes (including points and other such things).  In addition I'm going to send him the list to see if he can beautify it.  I'm not sure if I want to put it out solely or leave it for Raiders but we'll see.

Can't wait to see the goods!
