Hi Tim, PFE100, could you explain why the EoV change was rejected (2nd and 3rd units cost 200)?
After all, this is used quite happily in the E-UK, and I thought it actually *had* received general acceptance worldwide.

Didn't receive enough votes within the ERC to pass. So testing has been recommended for a change to 225pts for additional EoV.

& remember just because it is EUK doesn't meant that it is right.

No problem, just surprised that's all, cos I thought the E-UK change was made on the back of the generally approved Net-EA one.

Good to hear :)

A little surprised also.
About the EoV and the fireprism. Continue testing at +5 points!?

I can understand that further testing is needed for the EoV, but I'm surprised that it's going to be tested at +225 pts instead of 200. That means that two singletons only pay 25 pts for the extra activation, where Warhounds and IG superheavies pay +50 pts. Or get a 50 pts discount, depending on how you look at it.

Greg, well done on all the changes that were passed. The three that were rejected look like they can be addressed and re-tested in good order.

Cheers

Mic

Thanks for the update Greg. I'm a bit surprised about the Fire Prism rejection- pure number crunching shows it is about on par with the Falcon, definitely not worth much more. It can get more use from jump-shoot-jump with its range though.

Ginger and Kyrt- with the Exarch issue, I know what the current rules are, and I play them as-is (no First Strike on Howling Banshee Exarch, etc.). I also know it's not directly covered in the rules, which is why I did my best to draw an interpretation from existing rules in related areas. The quotes I gave were to highlight design ideas, not directly relevant rules.
I still think it's a shame though that the rules as-is can be such a hindrance to some aspects but not others- and clearly I'm not the only one, from the list of earlier posters who give Exarchs the ability of their unit type as a house rule.

Edit: Something else I just thought of- Does anyone else have a problem with Fire Prisms being a small points value upgrade (ie. 5, 10, 15 or 20)?
In a list where everything is a multiple of 25 for points, any upgrade that's not also a multiple of 25 is a real pain. Even if it were only a 5pt upgrade, as recommended, that means that if you upgrade 1 you pay for upgrading 5. That 20pts left over is useless, unless your opponent is happy with you going over-points.

Great job Greg on the cahnges thus far.
Thanks for all the work, horse trading and playtesting so far.
Great to see the Banshees made it through.

Personnaly I think the prisms should pay more. I run a prisms only list ans find the extra 15 cm and lance to be very effective in certain circumstances

The 5 points is a bit strange I think as it is the only upgrade to be set at that small a cost - something that I thought the ERC wouldn't have liked.

Cheers,
Jim

I would suggest Prisms at +12.5

I think that +7,73 pts is more appropriate.

I have rechecked the original Swordwind and version 4.1 to confirm the entry about the Avatar is also wrong IMO. As currently written, the Warlock titan could also summon the Avatar and using the commander ability, either could drag the other into an assault with 2x Inspiring quite apart from a ridiculous amount of MW and TK dice.

The note against the Avatar should read
"In Grand Tournament games the Avatar must start off the table. At the start of any turn (including the first) it may be set up on the table within 15cms of a Farseer In the End Phase of the turn the Avatar returns to the Webway and is removed from play. Once the Avatar has left it may not return."

Anything with Farsight has been able to summon it since the 09 changes, I believe.

There is no mention of any change to the summoning of an Avatar in the official 2008 errata.
Do not remember any mention of any change for the NetEA rules packs either.
It looks as though some where along the process of re-writing the rules for the tournament packs Farsight has replaced Farseer.
