I am planning a 3000 points list but find it hard to create a competetive army. Any suggestions?

1. I want at least two Spirit Warrior Warhosts and one Spirit Warrior Troupe to give it a fluffy feel.

2. I do have enough miniatures for four Spirit Warrior Warhosts and two Spirit Warrior Troupes. Did anybody do something like that already? Was/will this be competetive in a tournament game? What formations are a must in an army like this?

I've played a few games with 2 spirit hosts and 1 spirit troop.

I've played them through gates and storm serpents and my last game had one air assaulting and the other all in waveserpents.

I think my recored is pretty even. I did play one game were they had 3+ armour instead of 4+(RA) and that went very badly indeed.

So two Spirit Warrior Warhosts and one Troupe is the maximum that makes sense?

I wouldn't say it's the "maximun that makes sense", it's just that I like to use other toys as well... *laugh*

They are slow formations, so you need something fast to harrass the enemy or grab objectives.  If you've got enought portals/transport, you might get away with more of them.

You can deploy the Spirit Warhost via Vampire, but I'm always a little nervous about that... still, it can be horrifically effective against the right target.

Does anyone think changing the Wave Serpent option to something like "replace two Wraithguard with four Wave Serpents for 150 points" might be a better transport options for the Warhost?  Going fully mech Wraithguard is an *expensive* formation!

I've only used it once and I'd like to try more games before It's changed. Yes its expensive but boy does it kick butt when it gets to attack!

One other thing I want to try is hosts with wraithlord upgrades and no troop. For me the troop has never really done much. It's pretty slow so I think out of 4 games they have got into base to base maybe once. With the hosts out of gates they would stand a much better chance of using that MW.

You do realize the Spirit Troupe itself can come out of a Wraithgate, right?

Important Note: Wraithgates are one of the smallest type of Webway portal, and may
only be used by formations made up exclusively of infantry, light vehicles, and armoured
vehicle
units that have the Walker ability;

Yes, but I have one fixed gates and two storm serpents. No one is silly enough to stand to close to the fixed gate and the hosts normally come out of the SS's. Plus they do make a nice backstop against armour.

With only 5 games its early days and many options are yet to be explored.

Well, if they want to capture the objective, they will have to stand *dangerously* close to the fixed gate...

I do understand what you're saying though.  And you could deploy the Wraithlords out of a Storm Serpent as well... with a two-Serpent EoV formation, you could do a triple-activation that should demolish two target formations... Serpents double to lay a Blast marker, Spirit Troupe comes out of one to engage, wins (we hope!), repositions to support the Spirit Warhost that comes out of the other Serpents... can do some nasty stuff with that!

I don't use any 'gates in this BatRep, but it's a similar army: Iyanden vs Space Marines

Has anyone tried this? It looks like a good idea to me.

From one (possibly two) games with mechanised spirit hosts they should be expensive as they are really powerfull. Hard hitting and survivable.

Well, they are expensive and large. I do not want them to be cheaper per se but just a smaller formation with 8 units instead of 12.

Ive been reviewing this list, as I see mechanized Wraithguard as the ultimate answer to the Landraider Terminator combo.

However, I grieve over the double cost of the Guardian Warhost.  300 points as a base cost instead of 150 really puts the damper on lots of units.  Therefore, I see this a sort of underpowered/undermanned list, with a few extra toys that others dont have, but not much.

How do you find this list running?

The other reason I ask is, I just bought a TON of Eldar infantry off Ebay and theyre all in Iyanden colors!  This wasnt intentional, certainly, but now I just look at this list even more closely than before :)

That's a typo, they should be 150 points.

So stop yer cryin' and start yer flyin'!   :flyboy:
