So you wish to secure your supply lines/garrisson some objectives or your blitz, what do you use and why?

I take pathfinders - the remnants after they are shot up hold objectives and before then they light 'em up (the enemy) and disrupt any incoming infantry groups, as well as suicidally hold up stuff. Though i am considering experimenting with tetra for a while instead.

If I lack static units the humans always tempt with their sheer numbers and leader to stay in position, but I will only take one lot for the blitz as its the only objective whose placement I control.

Options are:
175 points - Pathfinders - 4inf/2av
175 points - Tetra - 6lv
175 points - Kroot - 10inf
Lots of options (425 points max) - Kroot - 24inf
175 points - Humans - 13inf
250 points - Humans - 19inf
200 points - Firewarriors - 8 inf
300 points - Firewarriors - 12 inf
+75 points - Fearless firewarriors
275 points - Stealth - 6inf
300 points - Broadsides - 6lv

It depends on the table. If my front line is not too far back, then Pathfinders are used. If the garrison is set apart from general support, generally two turns or more of movement away from anything with a guided missile, the Kroot get pushed forwards. The Kroot can be a nice aggresive defence formation, and I dont feel too bad if they get wiped out. They can also take a variety of additional units to make them flexible depending on the enemy that I face.

Honestly?  Human Aux or Kroot, because Tau don't really hold terrain.  My FW are always mobile, either Orca or DF.  (no manta, can't justify buying one right now, but there is a large FW order coming up when the next IA is released)

I may start using pathfinders, because they are described as sneaking up close to the enemy in the fluff, but that's a low probability right now.
