Just to echo a question from the Specialist boards.

How does the Tau Deflector Shield work in assaults?  Does it protect against normal FF attacks as if they were AT, unless the opponent is in base?  Or are they not supposed to work at all during assaults?

Curious Shas'Os want to know!

Based on what's in the Tau army-list, I'd say that you'd get to do so as a 6+ save if they're non-macro-weapons. I think the AT specification is just because all the units with them are AV or WE. I'd play it as 'Any attack which is not TK or MW is saved on a 6+' basically.

Yep the rule for Def. Shields says it all. No save for base-to-base attacks. Extrapolating that means it saves vs all but these attacks.

I agree with this.
