I've not really thought this through (for a change :/ ) but in light of discussions to allow the Manta to carry an Ethereal / Shas'o to make it a command vehicle in a similar manner to a Dragonfish could we find some way of wording the force org chart to allow the Ethereal and Shas'o to be an allowed upgrade for these vehicles in addition to the units they currently work with?

For example:

Code Sample
* add 0-1 Tau Ethereal Caste Member to a Fire Warrior Team or a Manta or a Dragonfish
* add 0-1 Tau Shas?o Commander to Crisis Ta?ro?cha or a Manta or a Dragonfish


I guess we would also have to add a note to the character stats to the effect that if in a vehicle the weapons cannot be used - can you imagine an Aun hanging off the side of a Manta fighting off land speeders with his honour blade! :8:

All in all I don't know if this actually helps but I just thought I'd throw it in the ring.

They learned it from the orks!:p

I could see it for the ethereal, but I still think the Shas'o should stay in the suit, though its not a deal breaker for me.

Am I wrong but I thought Ethereal/Shas'o, etc., would mount up in the Cadre's FW Devilfish and/or activate with the B/suits ?!?  ???

Background questions aside, I think that would be a much cleaner way to set up the army list and would eliminate all the questions about how to stat the Dragonfish.

Well, the DF is taken on the assumption that the Shas'o is already onboard (I don't think he'd be wandering around the command and control centre in his Crisis suit though - more likely wearing the kind of carapace armour as worn by the Shas'o in the 4th ed 40K rulebook... which would explain why on T'au a Shas'O wouldn't be wearing his battlesuit in that picture!)



The point here is that not all aun or shas'o would choose to lead the fight from the front, in the thick of things alongside the Fire Warriors/Ta'ro'cha. (Otherwise why are we bothering with the Dragonfish in the first place?)

The intention is not to force players to stick the shas'o and/or the aun in either the DF or a Manta, as clearly there are players here who would do neither, but to allow those who want to place one or both of them in a suitable command platform to do so.
