D'oh moment - is there a GW pic of the Moray (art or model) somewhere?

No, the Moray isn't a GW creation, it was invented for the Tau Epic list.

Ah, right E&C. But in the Wikipedia entry on Tau the Moray is mentioned too. So is Epic influential then? :)

For a while there was a Wikipedia mention of a class of Titan larger than the Emperor that is held in a cage in the heart of Mars too. :D

Ummm.... I'd like to think Mars and Malta are coincident....

Ah well, another example of Wikipedia accuracy. For some reason I do not expect it to be accurate on serious matters, but accept what it says on 28mm and 6mm men.

And the Custodian, to me, is way too big to be a Moray, so I'd definitely recommend the Protector

Hehe yeah, except the Protector is the size of a Tigershark in reality... and a lot less bulky.

The Manta has a 6.5 inch wing span. I assume the Moray is somewhere around the 4 inch mark given its supposed to be a smaller version.

Perhaps this will help. These are not even assembled at this point, but should give relative sizes. I dont (yet) have a Custodian.

Manta                         Tigershark

     Scorpionfish (Emissary)      Moray (Protector)

Looks pretty neat to me. I'd like to see the Custodian near it too, but yeah those do look pretty good to me!

Dunno about those. Considering the TS is at 2dc those other two don't look like 3dc vehicles.

Hell even the manta looks a bit weedy for 8dc.

The Orca looks great as a 2dc vehicle. Just have to be careful to not field it along side the others so the enemy can't make a comparison!

And yes the interior of the Orca is fantastic, bet they can't do that with a Thunderhawk!

A few pics with the Custodian:

One of the neat things about the Custodian is that you can see three custom grav hooks in the bottom part of the upper hull for fitting Warden escorts - and the Wardens actually fit really neatly, too!

Very nice.

And even though it's, ironically, dwarfed by the Demiurg Stronghold, the two look great side-by-side on the tabletop.

The custodian definitely makes a pretty good looking Moray to be sure. I think I'd probably use the other as a Scorpionfish. Might not really be big enough, but it looks to have suitably large numbers of missile launch tubes.
