So I thought why not tau it up?
My opponent plays very irregularly, but does own a wargames miniatures painting factory, so no doubt picks up skills by osmosis. The opposing army will be Imperial Guard.

So what to put in? I was thinking all the units people are concerned over?

Considerations - 2700 points
                        - Proxies as we will be using all sorts of things

The second can be overcome if anyone can point me at a printout of 2d tau to use (and 2d 'guard if thats possible!).

Guard will be standard stuff, currently due to proxying without much variation.

Suggestions from all those who haven't been buried in work these past few months?

I think a 'tank company' of Hammerheads is a must. Typically I have played tau with AMHC's, Pathfinders and air support.

Take a unit of Firewarriors and put them to the test.  My typical core is two AMHC, 2 Crisis Cadrs and a Firewarrior Cadre.  From there I add in all the fun stuff, though I haven't used any Pathfinders yet.

Yes, going to use a formation of firewarriors, mechanised, with and a skyray (who needs integral markerlights? :) ) since I argued they were a great mech formation.

However anyone know of any paper 2d counters or is it proxy hell again?

You could always use the Necron ones as a base.
