Salut ? tous,

Could you tell me which version of the Tau army list can be used in a tournament?

4.4?
4.4.1?
4.4.2?

Generally, it depends on the tournament. Version 4.4 is the last SG release, and this is the one most often accepted for tournaments. Version 4.4.1 is the latest 'in house' release, which tournament organisers may or may not accept. Version 4.4.2 is not yet released.

I think that it wont be in the immediate future. Right now, I am working on going through the various threads, updating the log and sorting out the issues that need to be addressed. I am also looking for any battle reports or action based on games, as this is very thin on the ground right now.

I apologize, my question was not clear.

As a tournament organizer, which list should I authorize? v4.4 or v4.4.1?
My main problem is not to know if the list is official or not but if it is balanced or not. And as I don't know the Taus very well, I need your help. :)

Ahhh, sorry. That is a more difficult question. Version 4.4 is fairly well regarded. Version 4.4.1 is a lot less tested in the field. I am probably not the best person to ask about balance. I prefer v4.4.1... obviously!  ???

I do know that version 4.4 is the most common version accepted in tournaments.

Took a bit of searching, but this thread might help a bit on decision to which to use. I would use 4.4.1 (that's the one used in my own tournaments anyway at this point).

As something different, has there been any feedback, comments or anyone actually using version 4.4.1 at any of your tournaments?

Well last time it was me who was using it (in early spring). Normally it's asaura who playes them as the only Taus in here are his. In the last two tournaments (June and August) asaura was not able to come.

I'm very confused with the Tau rules, currently. That's one of the reasons I don't play with them, nowadays, as I can't be arsed to dig out the rules.

I did happen to play one game with them last weekend, but could not decide what are the Ion Cannon stats (I ended up playing them as a nerfed RG) or the Pathfinder stats (I ended up losing the general Sniper ability and removing the carbines). I did not use FW at all due to not having MLs.

JMO, 4.4 is just fine for the tourney. Last year, I was prepping for the Memphis SPEC CON and I tried numerous configurations in my various warm up games as well as using it for a campaign that was taking place.

Then I heard that there were going to be three other Tau armies there, so I took my SM's just to be different and run them through their paces.

End result, no Tau armies at tourney because the other three wiffed on us and mine was safely at home.  :glare:

My observations of that version were:

1. A very heathly match up against IG, the then current version of the Tyranids (no idea now), and SM

2. Had problems with competently commanded Orks and Eldar

3. No match ups against Necrons or Chaos

I hope that helps a little bit
