Very nice - I like it :)
What are the Walking Landmines mentioned on Warseer? Curious...

Walking landmines are a Forgeworld in-joke after someone made a silly stick-figure out of a Demolitions charge and some bipod pieces back at FW's open day.

Aha - thanks E&C. Any pics, anyone? This sounds inspiring    :blues:

Will this beastie land in EA? As rules, as a FW model, and (inevitably, I guess)  as a conversion?

I wondered how that would be resolved. The AI board on Warseer had a discussion on this, with the opinion that it was a conversion, thrown into the AI display (with a picture of the cover of the new suppliment) just to confuse people.

To be honest, and before anyone asks, I am against adding these to the current list. We really dont need another type of drone, without a dedicated 6mm miniatures, which performs in a very similar way to the existing Heavy Drones.

I am not even really sure that I like the 40K model. Thanks for the info, though.

I've seen pictures of the AI scale one... with it's Tigershark controller ship... I think it's similar to a Sniper Drone Team for the Air Caste.

So that thing is an air to air combat unit.

Have any idea how many fit in a Tigershark?

If you wanted to include it you could just change the tigershark from being a transporter to having a better AA attack or defense, or both.

i reckon they have been playing too many computer games like r-type that give you power ups :)

actually, from the 40k scale model and rules, it's a pretty nasty thing.  Same stealth field as the Stealth suits, long-barrelled burst cannons for AA, and it carries 2 Seeker missiles for ground attack.

The Stealth field would give the things a really nasty armor save (40k rules, roll 2d6x3 inches, that's how far you can see them, averages 21") in E:A terms, and the burst cannons are passable AA guns (have to give them 30cm range in E:A, though).  Seeker missiles we've already got aircraft stats for.  The only other question is, what niche do they really serve in the Tau army?  They're really either a recon/strike or close air support tool, which means they'd replace Baracudas.

At this point, I agree with CS:  if/when FW releases them in IA/E:A scale, then we can throw down on rules for them.  There's enough stuff out there that you need to scratchbuild as it is.

I quite like the suggestion that they are abstracted like network drones. The upgrade would then turn a tigershark into a fighter bomber. Oh course this presupposes that the tigershark is turned into a bomber.

Guess would be a character upgrade, 25? points to start with, changing the tigersharks type. For more points it could bring an additional AA weapon, prob at 15cm range.

Incidentally I do think forgeworld will come a cropper with all their air-power. It is totally sensible and as a consequence doesn't fit into the 40k universe. Just as in real life any army with air superiority generally wins. 40k I always thought was about barbaric combat with advance weapons, leading to counter-intuitive but fun things.

I called Forgeworld today, and they said that the Remora plus Tigercarrier would come. But this would take long, because they have too much demand on the normal game, so that Epic and Aeronautica would come last. So probably also no bunkers this year :-(

Yes, I've seen pics of the AX 2-2, Remoras and mines in Epic scale. And I heard that they will eventually be released ... for AI(Epic).  But with Epic scale stuff being low priority, who knows when we'll see'm ! :(  Or anything else in 6mm ...

FW site says shipping week of Feb 25, so it's about time to start working on rules, I think.
