I've always read the pin point attack to mean I can chose which WE in a formation I can shoot at. Should the normal hit allocation rules apply? (4.3.4 below)

4.3.4 Pin-Point Attacks
Pin-point attacks may be made on enemy war engines
(war engines are the only things big enough for a
spacecraft to pick out on the battlefield). Pick a target
anywhere on the table and then attack it with any pinpoint
attacks the spacecraft may have. You may target
different war engines with each pin-point attack if you
wish, or concentrate all of the attacks on a single target.
Note that you do not need to record the co-ordinates of
pin-point attacks.

A formation of Tiger Sharks has 2 planes.

So where's the "4 shots" come in?!?  *laugh*  I take it you meant over multiple turns...

I said "over the course of a game" way back in the original comparison.

First: Wasnt sure which thread to use for this upcoming question and
Second: Maybe this idea has come up before and was already dismissed, sorry if thats the case.

The idea:
I thought about giving the Hero one additional ability, which works fine I think considering the aspect he does "Pin point attacks".
Why not give the Hero a limited markerlight ability? Something like that:
On the Hero's activation it also can lit up an area of 30 cm diameter and can relay those coordinates to one other formation for the remainder of the turn.

It's relatively clear the Tau player then has to retain his initiative, because the opponent could either kill the formation getting that info or just leave the marked area. One issue I have is, if the opponent should really know which formation gets this boost. Well, he could have intercepted the communication, but seems kinda dumb.

With these limitations I think its not too strong, gives the Tau at least one more or less definite shot with guided missiles or some strategic advantage. It might be viable to extend this area to a 45 cm diameter, but that needs testing i guess. And I am pretty sure the point increase to 200 will then be fitting perfectly.

One other problem might be the text for the datasheet could get a bit long. Not sure.

Okay, looking forward to your comments, even if just to tell me that has been dismissed before.
