Yeah - a terror to Imperials would be facing volumes of fire further out than they are used to - so 60cm as opposed to 45.

OK, so it looks like 60cm is fairly well received. I would really not want them reduced to shorter than this without a seriously good reason at this point.

TRC pretty much convinced me there. We're inevitably steering from 40k on that issue. So let's steer in the Tau way. Fine for 60cm range. :)

That's inevitably a 75pts unit then. Maybe now there would be spare room for FF5+ on that hammerhead variant? :confuse: I don't know about you, but I tend to avoid FF6+ units as much as I can when building an army. Wouldn't this help speed dice rolling and balance?

About the range. The skyray's AA range should not be enormous actually, because the missiles need the Skyray's own markerlight to lock onto a target to be effective (but then they are very deadly). That means in Epic the range should be the same as markerlight, 30 cm. 45 cm is already stretching that, but just retains more truth than 60 cm range.

Actually, they can use any of the markerlight network, that is specifically stated in IA3 as an upgrade which made them more deadly. Also, IA3 states that the have a large range.

The range will be reduced to 60cm, with all other stats (including cost and FF) currently unchanged. While I take the point about FF6+ units, we have to have some! ?:D ?However, this also means a two different distances for the Seeker missile ranges and Hunters, and would reduce the range of the Hunter Missiles on the Scorpionfish! Can people live with that?

I would like to keep the Scorpionfish as it is right now, firstly because it is a new change and secondly because there seem to be mixed responses to its AA capacity at this time.

Just to clarify, if the Skyray Hunter is reduced to 60cm, then it would have to include all instances, including the Scorpionfish. We couldnt reduce one and not the other.
