Now, avoiding spamming, I'll pick up from this quote:

I don't think we have any/enough justification for Demiurg in the Tau list

As you see, I and a few others here think we do. So, the case we propose is pretty much this:

1- We accept that it's not out of necessity for the main list. I'm happy to work on this under the guise of a Mercenary off-shoot article. The problem with that is that there is solid implications that the Tau and Demiurg have a rather special, if not 'unique' relationship, which hints to me that if any place is likely to be finding themselves with proper bona-fide Demiurg equipment strutting its stuff then it'd be the Tau. That is the impression given by Armada and the CPF Article of Ray Bells.

2- Demiurg are fairly advanced technically, so we *can* go with this being a fairly advanced piece of kit. It would need, however, to be something the Tau Empire forces simply don't have access to elsewhere. From that, I propose the Demiurg present the Tau's best shot at mainly land-based Titans and equivalents.[ie not Support Craft]

3- It is not going to be a straight 'Reaver/Warlord/Gargant/Stompa' with Tau markings. It's to be a Demiurg creation, and it's to look and act accordingly.

4- A 'Demiurg' Feel I propose is relatively slow, relatively tough, and immensely powerful[ie Sub-Eldar in Power, but above wider access Imperial and Ork stuff of this magnitude]

5- It's a further addition to the 'non-pure' side of the Tau, so it shouldn't detract from the 'pure' contributions of the Tau. This is mainly so that 'Pure' Tau forces are viable, if lacking in some respects [ie No Titans, No Insects, No Humans, No Savages]. [This is a core focus of all Tau Lists. The 40k list looses almost any 'cheap access' without Kroot, and looses a fair bit of now added and rapid response AP with the loss of Vespids, in BFG they cannot go toe to toe with Battleships and Battlecruisers without the Demiurg, and are obscenely poor at manouvering with good firepower without the Orcas[Demiurg Tech involved] or the Nicassar]

6- Something a bit like War of the Worlds would be very desirable, if we can make it look good.

Now, looking back a bit: I already was quite aware of how dangerous it is to bandy about the 'racist' point, but I don't think it's unjustified as it was deliberately and clearly in a different context from the racism involved in the real world. Pure Tau lists should be viable, but given the precedent from other games and the background itself [the premiss for this entire list] is that the Tau should be at a distinct[though not needing to be a severe] disadvantage if they use none of their Auxilliaries. As a joking aside: Drones aren't Tau :p

For my intentions of modelling the concept...

I have a plan
[Queue War of the Worlds Musical!]

My thinking is rather basic, but I'll go with it anyway:

Take the side 'wing' thing from a Bastion Class Commerce Vessel, apply Greenstuff [ideally skillfully]. This'd, hopefully, allow me or the modeller to model nice 'Stompy Ambulators'[or something equally good looking or more so], a few added details, and a nice bit of weapons and such.

This'd make it a very 'Tall' Design overall, so I'd probably end up adding a few more bits to 'bulk it out'.

Any suggestions?

Xisor

I'm not, personally, all that opposed to Demiurg in the Tau list. The idea of the Demiurg supplying more advanced remote-control/self-controlled systems to the Tau seems reasonable. Especially given their, theoretically, very low numbers. My own problems with it rank more in the way that the system FEELs. I could easily see this thing as a huge tracked vehicle which has short-range magnetic attractors to scoop up loose metal and a set of large ion-cannons on top of it to slice up rocks and break them into smaller pieces. Come rumbling forwards and shatter rock into rubble then just keep rolling over it as your magnetic scoops pick up the bits along the way and keep going. Potentially, if large enough, it could have an automated smelting system inside as well to turn the raw material into bricks and store them.

I could see such a device being something like...

"Demiurg Mining Machine

Type: War Engine. Speed: 15cm. Armor: 4+. CC: 4+ FF: 3+

Weapon/range/firepower/notes
2x Ion Pulverisors/45 cm/MW 3+/TK(1), Ignore Cover, Fixed Forward
And (15cm)/Small Arms/MW, TK(1), EA(+1)
4x Defense Turrets/30 cm/AP 3+ AT 3+
Magnetic Scoop/Base Contact/Assault Weapon/MW, EA (+3)

DC: 6, Deflector Shields. Critical Hit: Ion Charging Array has been damaged. One Ion Pulverisor is unavailable this turn. Roll a D6 at the end of each turn. On a 1 the system is destroyed, the war engine loses 1 DC and one Ion Pulverisor is off-line for the rest of the game. On a 2-4 one Ion Pulverisor may not fire next turn. On a 5-6 the system is repaired and returns to usual operations.

Notes: Fearless, Reinforced Armor, Thick Rear Armor."

The Deflector Shields represent the Demiurg's deflector technology on a smaller scale. Functionally identicle to the Tau Deflector Shields. The idea is that the machine just grinds it's way slowly forward, unloading weaponry into anything it comes across. I could easily picture such a device used to scour asteroids of Orks and extract the minerals from them (as well as whatever weaponry the Orks had been using).
