Unregistered Dog Cult Discovered
Report broadcast by Enclave Information Services
Yesterday, the Fal'Shia Commerce Safety Unit was called in to assist local Enclave officials subdue an unregistered Dog Cult that had entered the Enclave Horticultural Preserve with intent to cause property damage.
The Pacification officers were investigating reports of unauthorized endocrine tampering amongst the cult members, which resulted in outrageous and aggressive displays of emotional imbalance. As the sporadic outbreaks of violence appeared to be escalating, Pacification officers on site called in assets from the Economic Litigation Corps for assistance.
Representatives from the Financial Cooperative are working with the above resources to explore all Enclave options, including litigation.
The completed Enclave property damage estimate is expected to exceed 273 Billion creds.

------------------------------------------------
So Ric and I gathered for a 1500 point battle between his Space Wolves and my Tau. I fielded:
Fal'shia Commerce Safety Unit -------------------------------
1 x Armored Cadre w/2 x Swordfish upgrades (6 vehicles) 1 x Dragonfish (Scorpionfish+SC upgrade) 1 x Fire Warrior Cadre+ 4 x Devilfish, + HH upgrade (2 x Ion cannon), + Pathfinder upgrade 1 x Stingray contingent
Ricggnar's Space Wolves (From memory):
2 x Tactical det (2 x Razorbacks each) 1 x Devastator det (w/Librarian) 1 x Assault det (w/Chaplain) 1 x Landspeeder Tornados
So, some interesting mechanics come into play given the low level of activations. The board was liberally sprinkled with terrain, with plenty of hills, woods, and small lakes.
I had my FW cadre set up on my baseline, flanked on the left by the armored cadre and flanked on the right by the Dragonfish and then the Stingrays.
Turn 1:
Ricggnar displays high initiative and elects to go first. Ricggnar ordered his right tactical unit to go on overwatch and cover the valley that provided clean access to the rear of his operating area.
The Shas'o elected to activate his armored cadre to seek out transport targets, however, the comm modules on all the vehicles malfunctioned (Yes, the Shas'o was quite unhappy) and they remained in place.
Ricggnar seeing an opportunity, rushed his other tactical squad up to within firing range of the armored cadre who were still placidly hovering over the freshly cut lawn. A few shots later and the armored cadre had lost a vehicle and the tacical detachment was threatening a nearby Vid-log facility. In response, the Shas'o ordered his supporting Fire Warrior cadre to the defense of the Enclave property. After a sharp exchange the tactical unit retreated (broke with casualties and 10 blast markers) behind Ricggnars forward line of battle.
In retaliation, a Devastator detachment situated in a nearby industrial complex opened fire and several Shas'la teams were reported missing.
After the sharp exchanges between the two sides, Ricggnar mobilized a Landspeeder detachment (tripled) and moved an Assault detachment within jumping distance of the deployed Fire Warrior cadre.
Turn 2:
Given the high initiative displayed in the opening rounds of the battle, both sides were a bit surprised when the Shas'o discerned that immediate action was required and redirected the fire of the Fire Warrior cadre to the Assault detachment, inflicting a large number of casualties and forcing their retreat.
In return, the Devastator detachment caused more Shas'la teams to go unreported and forced the vehicle commanders to pull back out of line of sight of the avenging unit.
Ricggnar then ordered the Landspeeder detachment to close and fire on the still immobile armored cadre (the communication failure appeared to be severe) and caused another casualty.
The Tau Stingray detachment then accelerated at great speed to secure two facilities in the invaders' deployment area, while the Shas'o caused a casuality on the Landspeeders.
Again there was a lull in the action.
Turn 3:
Surprised at the arrogance of the Tau, Ricggnar pressed his Landspeeders up to where the Tau tanks were casually floating and caused two more vehicles to crash and the remainder pulled back to a safe recovery area for refit.
The vehicles in the Fire Warrior cadre spied a tactical unit advancing on the outlying Stingray detachment and moved up to apply fire. Although hits were scored, they were not enough to cause the cult members to deviate from their plan and hits were observed on the Stingrays.
Turn 4:
Quickly running out of effective units, both Ricggnar and the Shas'o furiously worked to move assets into threatened areas, however, once again, Ricggnar was quicker and the outlying Stingray detachment received hits and broke.
The Shas'o attempted to drive off the Landspeeder detachment, but did not cause any casualties, thus leaving the threatening unit in place. The remnants of the now dishonored armor cadre rallied as dusk fell on the battlefield.
After Action Report -------------------
Well that was a lot of fun. As our group is still in the learning phase with our armies and the rules, Ric and I thumbed through the rules a bit, but still kept the momentum of the game moving along.
One of the key events of the game for Ric was when he didn't win the initiative on Turn 2. This allowed me to fire my deployed Fire Warrior cadre on the Assault unit that was preparing to beat me senseless. This fire caused the unit to break the unit and keep me in the game.
On my side, the only rolls that my armored cadre passed were for decent numbers on the marshalling rolls. Otherwise, they did not fire a shot in anger the entire game.
We ended up with one objective each at the end of turn 4.
I'm looking forward to the next one. A side victory is that while we were playing, three other people got interested in the game and so we have three new potential players in the area. The visual impact of seeing nicely painted miniatures on a nice board should never be discounted.
Great game Ric!
