NH,

I hear you. I respectfully disagree with your interpretation, but I do understand your perspective.

Unless clarified further, (and I hope it is and I hope your right) I'm afraid I feel OW formations shooting in response to 'reacting to enemy units in LOF' i.e. 'seeing them' is clearly stated and depicted in example as I've stated my case above in this thread. I'd rather err on the side of caution in my games.

I'm afraid I have nothing further to add on this topic. We'll agree to disagree (won't be the first time) :8):

I'll back out of this thread and appoligize to all for interferring with the tactics discussion that was going on here.

Cheers,

Having stepped in between Tactica and Neal on the crisis inf/LV question I am feeling brave and I will jump into this one as well.

In this case I believe Neal to be correct.  I do understand what Tactica says and he makes very good points (he could be right).  The reason I think the rules are written the way they are in that it just was not anticipated that there would be weapons like GMs (except the Deathstrike, which Neal correctly states as a weapon that can OW without LOS, even if it was a highly contested rule).

That said it is not my intention to drag this argument back through the mud again.  Its something that should probably be passed on the those that make rules decisions.

Returning to the discussion of tactics...

The Stingray/Stealth combo can also be used in a more aggressive way quite effectively.  The same principle applies, the stealths provide MLs and the Stingrays can shoot from a safe vantage point.  That is one of the reasons I like to add stealths to my crisis cadre.  (Usually my SC is Crisis+Crisis+Stealth+Shas'o)  If the back of the crisis formation is within 15cm of the front of the stingrays it is also an option to use them together in a co-ordinated fire.  Crisis advance or double into the enemys face and shoot, then the Stingrays make use of the MLs now fixed on the enemy to sustain fire (or advance if range demands) and apply their very good firepower.

This can also be done with armour formations.  Example the narwhal and Dragonfish formation along with any of the Hammerhead formations (just make sure you have that highly undervalued Skyray in the HH formation).  Again the Dragonfish calls the co-ordinated fire, this time the HH formation advances/doubles into 30cm range fires and marks for the missiles from the Narwhal/Dragonfish.

And finally, for anti-WE work I would recommend Tactica's Spaceship/Moray combo.  If you loose initiative then the Morays are not there to be shot at.  If you win or after the enemy has, at worst, placed a unit on OW.  Then you can activate the Spaceship and hit the WE with the PPA, then the Morays "land" and unleash their TK weapons.

Just thought that I would mention that it has been officially confirmed on the SG Epic board that units can fire on OW if their normal targetting requirements are met:

IE Deathstrike needs no LOS, and as long as the target is lit by a ML, GM's could be fired on overwatch without LOS to the OW, GM firing unit.

Thanks for taking this one over to SG AND receiving an answer which is a satisfactory one.

@Tactica:
      See now, and bow down for the Greater Good! :D  :D  :80:

Cheers!
