Has anyone ever considered letting the Emperor Titans be able to split fire. They are such a premium to field in terms of limiting how many formations you can field and are probably the least points efficient mini in the game. Giving it a special rule like "the machine spirit" or "advanced targeting systems" and letting it target 2 or even 3 formations (like land raiders in 40k) sounds like a fun way to actually make the Titan useful in a game.

I mean surely a Titan of that caliber has advanced targeting systems, multiple gunners/operators, and a beast of a machine spirit that I'm sure would be more than willing to pull the trigger on it's own would support this ability. Right now it's such a points sink I just can't realistically see anyone using it in any thing less than a 6,000+ game. I know EA rules don't allow for split targets and folks like to limit special rules but certainly something as iconic as an emperor Titan could be an exception.

Just my 2 cents. :)

Certainly an interesting suggestion though split shooting on that mammoth might make it too amazing. Maybe add in "the emporer gets a -1 to hit for each formation targeted beyond the first". So -1 to hit 2 targets, -2 to hit 3, etc...

Almost every person who plays AMTL will suggest this at one point or another, myself included. Short answer, no, it's not going to happen. Long answer, search for the forum :)

My bad Vaaish. Should have done more digging before posting. :) It's fun to dream though. Although... there is that little thing called house rules! :P

Yeah could make.for a fun houserule, especially for ultraheavies (my own neologism :)) facing off like Emperor Vs Mega Gargant based armies. It'll never be that way in EA fot many reasons though as Vaaish points out. That being said, your minis work just fine under other game systems as well and the hobby police don't arrest you :)

My suggestion a long time ago was to give the emperor a ridiculously short move rate (like 5cm), then let it activate two or three times per turn. You'd have to tinker with the weapons (i.e. reduce the number of shots they get), but aside from keeping track of how many activations it had used, no other special rule would be needed.

This would also solve the problem if it being such a huge activation sink.

No one liked that idea though.

We're thinking of doing this for emperor class in the heresy supplement. My thoughts are non macro weapons can be fired at a second target, which does not gain the +1 Bm for being fired upon.

Perhaps it should be a sustain action to split fire but in doing so the split fire removes the +1 bonus?

Really like the cumulative modifiers suggested by Atension. Might have to try that one day...

Or maybe give it new types of actions and balance from there?

@Lecacty, Yep, I had an idea of making it have to take an additional activation test to split fire at -1 modifer. So activation to do a standard activation followed by an additional test at -1. I'll probably mess around with it at some point but like Vaaish said, it probably won't ever be added to the official list. Which is fine because who ever uses an Imperator besides crazy high point games? :) Same applies to fluff really, you wouldn't ever see one unless it was a huge battle.

yeah it's spectacularly terrible for the GT scenario but could be great fun for others (with special rules in the scenario like the above)
